Scotland, Houla, Muph, Gibbs The two B's - none of them are express.

JR is fast and we use him as a tagger.

This I agree with. Throw in Walker, Grigg, Stevens and Benji in the next few years and we have GOLD. Can't wait to see Grigg as he'll make a huge difference in the second half of the year.

Think of the balance in 95 when we lost 2 games - ballwinning "slowies"in Dog, Diesel, Ratts with the pace of a young Kouta, Bradley, Camporeale. Awesome.

Regarding: Better ruckmen will improve the way our midfield play.

I believe ruckmen are overated. Most of the time for a throw in or ball up ... ruckmen do not put the ball in the hands of team mates. There is always a struggle to get the ball out. Good rovers / midfielders understand where the ball is going, regardless of which ruckmen hit the ball. All a ruckman has to do is make a contest .. thats it .. so the oposition ruck does not take the ball.

The real value of a ruckman is his ability to take marks around the ground. This is the sort of ruckman we need.

Tell that to Harry Madden. Diesel, Ratten and Brown may disagree.

I'm not sure if it is a choice between Bentick and Blackwell. IMO both Blackwell and Bentick can play a role in the side in years to come. I agree that we need to add some express players to the midfield group ie players that can burst away and open up the play but there are not a lot of Judd's around so you need someone to feed the ball out to them and this appears to be where I think they fit into the team plan long term.

I think that sometimes we forget that rotations are a fact of life in AFL football and no player is now expected to play a full match on ball. Neither one is a goal kicking midfielder and dont' do a lot of work down forward but they do extract and add pressure. Add a Grigg and a non srtop runner in Ryan plus some express speed in Benjamin and our midfield group is starting to take shape.

They are both still doing their apprenticeship and have shown a bit on occasions but not consistently.

The only thing Bentick and blackwell their lack of pace. I initialy thought they were similar but watchin them play in 2007 they are niles apart.

Bentick sole purpose for the team is for the stoppages (hardball, tackling) ground and pound.

Whereas blackwell is a smart mid he can read the play and gets the pill he is also composed for a youngster. I'd trade neither.

I also wouldn't contemplate trading carrots either, he's one of our harder bodied midfielders and is a current ball magnet. He's pretty versatile when gibbs murph walker and co are peaking in the future we can always have carrots playing in the back pocket or off a flank rotating through the midfield.

the only player i would trade would be Houla no doubt he has skill he my get us a draft pick or a half decent player.

Trades are out of the question ( unless its Judd, cousins?? charmen) we still have one more cull to do

why doesnt Gibbs go into the midfield? i dont know whats wrong with him, but i feel disapointed, becuase i been watching him since his days in the SANFL, and he used to be a midfielder that averages 25+ touches easily, and often gets into his 30's.....

i know AFL level is alot harder and faster, but Gibbs did play against men, but since coming to carlton, he just doesnt seem to be the same guy i used to watch..... :(
