Ruckus - you think us going around the wings with dinky short passes is what Denis wants?
Well, for the last 2 and 1/2 years, he's drilled corridor footy into the side, but it still isn't done properly.
Very difficult to play corridor football when the 'corridor' runs only from full back to the centre, with nothing to kick to beyond that. If Pagan wants that, why not encourage it by giving them something to kick to? Why not play Fevola out of the square, leading to about 30-40 out, rather than this one-trick pony nonsense of running toward goal into empty space? We're seeing dinky short passes because often there's simply nothing to kick to. Either our players as a group are totally unable to follow or comprehend his orders, have learned nothing in those 2 and half years, or the tactics simply don't work. Whatever the cause, something has to change, and it's Pagan's job to do that.
This whole empty forward line thing with everyone supposedly bolting forward into space when we gain possession simply doesn't work, particularly when we struggle to hit targets The only time we've looked like scoring is when we've set up with something like a traditional looking forward line and given our midfield something to work with.
The players look confused at the moment, and caught awkwardly somewhere between Pagan's old paddock tactics and what we should be playing - man-on-man, accountable corridor football. Give each bloke a man, tell them to stick like glue and contest. Keep it simple for crying out loud. It's back to basics time, and the moment has arrived for Pagan to admit his tactics have left our players hanging out to dry.
