I think that is a bit harsh.

We are improving, but we have lost a lot of drive with Stevens out, and Cloke down has hurt our structure.

We need a couple more elite players so half a dozen or so of our good players can become better players.....

There are many people on this forum who just don't understand football.

The question was, who has improved since last year - that means playing better football. And it meant giving a yes or no answer - fairly simple. Taking out all the emotion and just giving a yes or no answer.

Walker is no better than he was last year. He should be a player that the comp is now talking about. Tell me guys, who in the media or anyone outside of Carlton are talking about Walker? No one! I hope he turns out to be a gun but he at the moment is a 16 possession a week player when we need him around the 25 mark and imposing himself on games.

Waite has not improved his consistency at all. He plays good bad. We need good good average good.

Murphy is struggling big time. He needs support obviously but he is not playing as well as last year. I know the kid and he admits that. We know the reasons why, losing Stevo.

Carrazzo has played 2 great games of football in the last 2 weeks, and that to me is taking the next step.

Houlihan is one that has definately improved and still getting played out of position. He is not a defender, he is a half forward flanker and someone who can swap into the midfield.

Russell is averaging 8 possessions per game. Look at guys like Selwood, Pettard, Pierce, Smith - they are having impact on games. He should be getting 16-20 quality touches per game.

Think through your comments, ask your mates who don't support Carlton to give you their opinion on some of our blokes. You will be suprised.

We are 2-5, and apart from Richmond, the way we are playing I can't see us realistically winning more than 2 games for the rest of the season. Another sad year, at least a new coach will be coming our way.

Poor Bluejoker ...

No one wants to climb on your bandwagon. Very sad.

I won't use your dubious methodology. I'll just observe that we have definitely improved. If you can't see that, then you are seeing only what you want to see.

But at least we've got you on record saying that we won't win more than 4. If you're going to be at all consistent, you'll have to start handing out bouquets rather than brickbats if we do. But I won't hold my breath waiting for that if we do win more than the 4 you've nominated.

(by the way, 2-6 - and only winning 2 more games is absolute crap)

Oh, oh yes - you understand football good good average good...

Can I ask who do you think we can beat?

My theory is simple, if you can't beat the Saint less their stars, the Lions at home, the Kangas minus Thompson and Wells then we will struggle when we play good sides.

Pagan is not a good coach, and we will underperform this year again. I was hoping for 10-12 wins and from what I have seen it will not happen. I think 4 is realistic to be honest.

Possible wins where we may start Favourites for rest of year:

Richmond

By the time we play Melbourne their players will all be back.

Sparkyblue and Indie I can appreciate that you guys are optimistic, but I think we can learn from the past that we play our best football in the first 6 weeks then fade. We have had no injuires the past 2 years and struggled, what happens when we get a few more? We lose Stevo and everything goes downhill. Imagine losing Fev?

Put your money where your mouth is tough guys, what is your prediction for the year - win and ladder postion? Then we can see who is right.

Carlton - 15th Position - 4 wins

Kicking 15 goals a game regularly and playing attractive more positive football is an improvement in my book.

Then their is improving your personel and that is going to take time, list management, improved coaching and resourcing.

Was 10 wins in 2004 an improvement - only for the short term egotists and junkies looking for a quick fix.

What we are after is a sustainable, quality improvement with a sound base.

Hate to do it to you with my first post Bluejoker but you are wrong:

We don't play Richmond again this year. By your calculations that's 3 wins

I think we might win a few more........ we do have the scum and the filth coming up again!!!!! :-D

wholeheartedly agree Agro.

The improvement is there in how competitive we are, in particular, but it's also there in the style of play, as Agro says.

We are young, in mind and body, and the improvement we all desperately crave will take time, but it is slowly coming.

The base is sound.

Remember we are building a team to win premierships, not just football games - a sustained year long effort. The lessons are hard, but I have no doubt they are being learnt, and we are improving.

Not sure I AGREE about Walker .He has been down the last 2 week but was one of our best for the whole year .He Scotland Carrazzo and Fev have had good sustained performances for the year ie not just 1 or 2 good games- Fisher probably is in the same category
Also noticed in Voss's top 21 years and under team in the sunday age -walker was included as was Murphy
I ALSO think we need to unleash walker -need his grunt in the midfield and flair and pace the last 2 weeks has gone into his shell by being more of a tagger than ball winner or creator

Yes and no answers will feed your theory bj and not give an accurate reflection on who has improved and who hasn't.

To say that Murphy hasn't improved since last year is not looking at the facts.

But if you want to think that he has gone backwards, go for it.

We have improved. We haven't been beaten by 100 points this year yet.
