Sheedy-played in flags
Worsfold-played in flags
Matthews played in flags
Barassi played in flags
Malthouse played in flags
Blight played in flags
Walls played in flags etc,etc,
Iknow, i know, their are plenty of premiership players who have been crap coaches, but surely success helps breed success.
Just imagine the respect that some one like Voss would have amongst the current playing group.Half the players wouldn't have heard of Bond,Royal,
etc,etc.

There would probably be a caretaker coach for the duration of 07 and a new coach would start in 2008.

In 2008 we might well have 'The Voss Gloss' - I would expect cliched headlines like this in the HUN if we started winning a few more games under Voss..

66% of the last three premiership coaches never played in an AFL/VFL premiership team.

Wasn't Roos fault he played for poor old Fitzroy.
Maybe Chocco learnt something from playing in losing grand final teams!
Like how not to do it! :-D

Nathan Buckley is the man we should be targetting.

Excellent fooball brain. Astute, deep thinker, strategist. Has a great understanding of the game, and as a player is respected by all.

In reality, he's currently an assistant coach at Collingwood.
He will be ready to coach next year and Collingwood will offer him an assistant role. However will he want to be like Harvey was at Essendon* and wait for Malthouse to retire? Possibly not.

As soon as the season ends Carlton should offer him the job. IMO he will be better than Voss.

Why would he be better than Voss? He's had no success!

Yes. His name has cropped up a few times in this thread. ;)

What people seem to forget with Nathan Buckley, is that I taught him everything he knows back in 1980 when were at St Paul's Primary School together. We were the new kids in town. We turned 8 that year, but I was still happy to impart my football wisdom onto him. Keen scholar of the game he was, even back then.

John Elliot on SEN this morning.

Asked if he thought Voss or Buckley could step into a senior coaching position next year.

Said he thought Voss could, that he's a very unique person. Not sure about Buckley because he doesn't know him as well.

I only post this because it's no secret that Elliot has the ear of RP and others. And vice versa.

Just another little piece of kindling onto the 'Voss to Carlton in 2008' fire.

I hope their research and recruitment is better than "I don't know him as well"

I just hope it's better than St Kilda's  It doesn't matter who the coach is, as long as the process is right   .

If you had of read my post properly ,you would have seen that i mentioned there were plenty of premiership players who were crap coaches!
Maybe i should have said that a lot of the more successful coaches were premiership players!
