I had a look at the ladder and noted that in term of "score for" we are fifth overall. So we can't be playing complete crap? I remember not too long ago we were struggeling to kick 10 goals in a game.
Problem is clearly our defence - we are last by a mile in terms of "score against".
But don't kid yourself, we are actually playing attacking foortball and scoring......

I would argue that teams arent concerned about stopping us by flooding because they are backing themselves to kick a winning score against us regardless!!! No point in kicking 20 goals in a game if the opposition are kicking 22!!!

I think we get high scores against us because we allow the over lap from their defence players are left playing piggy in the middle

my concern is the confidence that opposing teams exert when the play against us. They see us in the fixture and lick their lips. It seems that opposing teams play with an extra confidence against us and carry the ball further, and take on our tacklers more.

Perhaps it is due to our lack of pressure or inexperienced bodies. Of course, I have no stats to back this up, it is merely an observation.

However, we have improved, the results are the same as last year, yet the efforts are coming from the young kids. Not the quick fix solutions eg. teague & mcgrath etc. So I believe we are better off than previous years

Pagan?

Picks higher in the draft?

Priority picks?

Playing kids?

Putting Gibbs in the back pocket?

Pratt?

Pretty far off the mark.

The results are probably better than last year. We lost most games without being in winning positions. We are now in a position to win most games, just not seeing it through. It is a positive despite all the doom and gloom

The Kangaroos are not shit. They are playing with all they've got for their very existence. I think its because we ARE closer than we have been for a few years now that it is more frustrating than ever. Because we are daring to believe once again. Because the kids are showing us glimpses of whats to come.

Pagan is not a parasite. he is a bloke who has been a great cocach for a long time and I am sure is trying his hardest. Maybe his hardest isn't enough..then again maybe it is and they really arent quite ready yet...
What if they sack him and we actually get worse.I wrote a post right after the match which was suggesting they are already throwing games..it was in the heat of the moment...I realise it is not the case when I wake up today and the sun is still shining and my mind has already begun to forget and look to next week.

I dont know the answers..none of us do...all I can do is wish and hope and pray that the pain will go away soon...because this navy blue heart is aching.

:-D I fully agree with you. Have a look at who won the game for the kangaroos - Harvey and Grant. Each of these players have played over 200 games and are Premiership players to boot. The Kangaroos also have a fair number of other experienced players (ala Simpson, Petrie etc) who know how to run out games. I'll bet if you look at the Kangaroos ave number of games it will probably be well over 100, whereas ours would probably be around 50.

The fact is that when we are up and going we can take it to any side. Unfortunately, our young players do not have the physical or mental stamina to maintain the required level for the whole game. They going missing for a short while and this lets the other team in.

Our best is sensational, but we struggle to maintain it for the whole game. However, the good thing is that we keep fighting it out and could have almost pinched the game on Saturday night. We all need to have some patience and the day is not far off when the boys will turn it on for a whole game and wipe a side off the map. You can see it coming !!

Another good thing to come out of Saturday night's game was Luke Blackwells' effort. He really looked like he belonged out there and has taken the next step to become a gun midfielder.

Finally, I would much rather watch Carlton flogging themselves and going down fighting as they are doing than see them play the crap that St Kilda and Hawthorn dished up on Saturday night. Which do you think Channel 10 would rather have covered? Go my beloved Blueboys! :-D

Right on waldo. The blues are closer than we realise. The difference between us and North was a stronger backline and midfield. Blackwell is going to be great as Ive said in other posts. Although they may be coming, the baby blues have done alright and not been spanked (barring eagles and cats). I think ongoing development of younger players such as Gibbs, Benjamin and Anderson are paramount to the future. And I'm prepared to go into fisty cuffs with anyone who bags O'help me. For an irish man, he's gonna be great after 60 to 80 games as DP said. Keep the faith my friends. Keep the faith.

They actually have some talent the closer you look at them

Their midfiled of Harris, Wells, Swallow and Smith will be a ripper in 2-3 years and will easily cover their ageing stars.

They have fantastic leadership which is what we lack. Its not about the captain, the whole group demands the maximum from each player

.......and don't forget they have the shinboner spirit!!
