Being on our list probably ruled him out of selection for the second grand final.

Hope he has a blinder and stays in the team for the rest of the year. Never begrudge a player who puts in and plays well.

The point is that if he didn't get injured he would have played in the 05 grand final and then never would have been traded and woulda played 06 as well. Guessing I didnt explain that clear enough and you just missed my point. No harm done.

I understood your point clearly.

My point is that if he was not considered good enough for Sydeny why does he appear so attractive to us?

I would have rather taken another kid at 52. We have to stop this nonsense of recruiting crap that other clubs don't want.

Lets face it we haven't hit on any winners yet have we?

Hey Kermit I don't disagree with you there. I may not agree with the initial recruitment of Saddo. But he is a blue now and calling him crap is insulting and wrong. He was more than useful last week and deserves his spot in the team this week.

not recently, but a few years ago I bet you were praising David Teague and to a lessor extent Corey McKernan (both B&F winners). Before getting injured I was pretty happy with Clokes progress also (yes I know we didn't have to use a draft pick for him) but I still think my point is valid.

You are allowed to call Carlton Players crap

example
Andrew Eccles
David Gallagher
John Hynes
etc.

Sure, call em crap if they are crap. Saddo aint crap. Hence insulting, especially after he proved he wasn't crap after a good game against the pies.

Congratulations Jason on a terrific milestone. Hope you have a great game and that the time that you are able to play your best footy in the time that you have left with the Blues - however long that may be.

Well done, crap footballers don't get to play 150 games and you certainly aren't a crap footballer.

McLaren did play in a Premiership team and he is in the same category.

The mere fact that Sydney let him go for a fourth round pick and that so many people on this thread are celebrating his one and only reasonable game since arriving shows how bad we are.

I would rather play Hartlett, Bower, Kennedy, Anderson than Saddington.

Get your facts straight before spouting bullshit like that. McLaren played in the 2004 GF, no others for the Lions. Was never going to be a star for the Lions, but competed and looked pretty good. I wasn't complaining when we got him.

As for Saddo - well done on your 150th game. Hopefully you can get back to your best form and be a valuable member of the CFC defence for the next few years.

No no never mind the nit picking your right McLaren played in a loosing GF team.

That changes everything for me. Saddington is a legend and will single handedly turn our fortunes around. Congratulations on a memorable dozen games for Carlton. Fantastic pick up and cheap too!

I would love to see his stats form the Bullants this year? The one game I have seen on the ABC he was thrashed and looked very ordinary.

So did Nathan Buckley. Twice!

Great point CC.

They should have put you in charge of the recruiting. I am quite sure that Collingwood would have happily traded Buckley for pick 52.

This has nothing to do with GFs. It has to do with a one time reasonable player who is now not up to the rigours of week to week senior AFL.

Must be delisted at years end and we are wasting out time playing him now.

Still waiting for his sensational Bullant stats to be posted. They are probably as good as Ross Young's (another dud). Why either of these two were promoted in the first place is beyond me.

Kermit, you're a muppet!

Saddo has experience we can use right now. Wether you like it or not, this is very important to the team. He's worth persisting with as many of the youngsters aren't up to AFL just yet. They will be, just not yet.

Give the bloke a chance, he played a decent game last week and deserves another crack. He may get smacked, but he just might surprise too. Waite til he lets you down before slagging him off.

Yeah it is a good point, about as good as you suggesting that McLaren played in a losing Grand Final... :garthp: . Perhaps I helped show your statement's absurd context.

You think Bullants form is more important than what they've shown in the firsts? I think Young has shown plenty in the firsts, more than Bentick.

Saddington took 12 marks against the Pies and his disposal was pretty much spot on.

If you look at our backline, take Whitnall out - there's barely anyone there who's played 100 games. Thornton's played 90 odd and that's it. A 150 game defender who can play there for a few weeks to help settle the kids is not a crime.

He's not the world's best defender, 3rd defender at best I'd say but you can't begrudge the fact that he played quite reasonably against Collingwood and went back with the flight of the ball courageously and took some saving marks.

KERMIT was given a 24 hour suspension for a personal attack on The Duke, but he took it so well :garthp: and followed suit with some choice language to me via email. We won't be seeing him again for a while.

;)
