Dear Denis,

I know this sounds very negative, but we only want to win a maximum of two more matches this year so we end up with 4.5 wins. Hopefully this will be enough to avert the wooden spoon and we end up with picks #2 and #4 in the draft.

We now can't realistically hope to make the finals so lets do our utmost to try and defeat Collingwwod and Essendon* and not waste our energy on other matches. Lets play youngsters ahead of established players even if this is going to significantly decrease our chances of winning.

Carlton supporters want their team to be a force of the competition again and this is unlikely to occur unless we can obtain our fair share of top shelf talent.

Regards

Frustrated Carlton Supporter

No way.

No. Way.

PP = Wooden spoon.

if you think we will avoid the spoon and scrape in for a PP, you're kidding...

I'd rather have a mediocre year, and end up 13th than go for that sort of shit.

What I'm saying is that we don't want to end up with 5.5 wins - that would cause me a lot of grief.

Until we actually win 2 more matches it's not even worth talking about.

If Barnaby is out for any length of time we won't need to tank.

Tanking = A good side who see their chance passing and throw game for profit.

Sorry, you don't qualify.

neither do we.

5.5 wins is the cut off for getting a priority pick, not 5 wins.

For those who don't think we need to tank to get a PP pick look at our last 6 games and tell me we can't win at least 4+ of them.

If we play like we have the last 4 games we would be lucky to win any of them.

True, but I doubt we will play like this for the whole season. Once we get Livo back (important for our structure), Chambers and Fisher I think we are a much better side.
I would prefer a PP than finishing with 8+ wins but Denis will be playing for wins and with a full side I think we can beat some of the bottom sides.

You guys are making out as though, Melbourne, Geelong and Richmond are crap teams.

Why tank ? Dennis Pagan did a few things today I liked.

One of them being Bentick, Simpson and Walker playing out of the middle at the same time in various stages of the game.

Melbourne is a good team.

I must admit I did like the youngsters in the middle, they did better than regulars(Kouta excluded) :) I don't think we're half as bad as we are playing. We have NO confidence and our skills are shot ATM. We are much better than the last 4 games but mentally were not showing up till the games over.

Collingwood are playing their kids and doing the right thing...we should do the same and stop being so conservative at the selection table.
I would play Russell v the Crows.....wouldnt be dropping Bentick, Simpson either....lets experiment and encourage youth.

Agree, given that we're losing anyway, we may as well play some youngsters and see if they are worthy of senior positions next year.

Let's start looking at the entire list and making some lists - who's naughy and who's nice, and the broom may have to be taken out of the cupboard again at the year's end.
