Back to the topic.......bit rich reading ADP's comments considering the Pies went the tank when they got Thomas and Pendlebury.
I think in light of the fact all other lower teams are using the draft to their advantage as well, that we make the best use of it that we can, and if the situation presents itself that we can play a whole swag of kids for say the last rounds and engineer a Priority Pick then do it.

You have to look after yourself in this comp or go under, and become a AFL puppet team like the Kangas will become when they move North...

Tanking requires meticulous planning, strategic execution and foresight.

As if we could intentionally deliver a priority pick!

Things are looking good boys. Great to see the support for my thoughts also gathering momentum. I predict that the 'YES' vote will outweigh the 'NO' vote by seasons end.

Your thoughts?

This is the part I love from you.

This discussion has been taking place for the last 3 seasons mate.

They are Synbad's thoughts.

Absolutely, North is like the guy holding T-Bag's pocket

The club will never tank games as it has suffered a great deal since 2002, but I can't see us winning more than 6 games this year. So the Q I ask myself is would I rarther win 6 games & miss out on the P/P or win 4 games ?
I would only want the P/P if we were certain not to finish last. No More Spoons!!!

I'm temporarily locking this thread so I can clean out all the crap. At the end of that, nytdog, AGRO and Synbad will all be on a one day suspension for a variety of personal attacks.

After reading all that, bearzo can also be added to the list.

Now, please keep to the topic at hand, without resorting to mindless personal attacks.

Thank you.

Bradley, i've said it once and i'll say it again, your 'wit' should be used on teenagers and teenagers only.

Year by year we are faced with different scenario's. I dont think that 3 years ago posters were saying we should be tanking in 2007. I want us to win 4 games or less this season and from next year, start winning games.

Surely you would think that we would be much better off with a PP than not...right???

Why cant some of you make sense that picks 1,3 & 19 are better than picks 2 & 18.

Gav man you haven't answered my question about the magic button - so next year do you apply your same belief again? Surely you want low picks again next year don't you? How about the year after that?

I think you have been unfairly maligned there AGRO I reckon we need more elite first round draft picks on our list as well.

Good point.

Hopefully we can use a high pick in the psd to target bringing Aaron Hamill home.

:-D

I vote that we stop tanking immediately so that we can win the flag this year. After all its a pretty easy comp, our list has a terrific mix of talls, smalls, experience, youth.

All those stars we drafted between 1996 and 2003 are forming the nucleus of a great side.

In the absence of Thorntons injury, we picked Bower ahead of Saddington at the weekend. Leaving aside Bowers lack of game time, is picking Bower ahead of Saddington tanking or a sensible investment in the future?

What about picking Russell ahead of Bannister? Bannister may do a better job, but who is the better long term selection?

Where does "tanking" stop and development start?

Which other teams is our list better than? Richmond and maybe line ball with Essendon* (we will be better than Essendon* sooner rather than later).

Doesn't tanking imply that we finish lower than teams with inferior lists?

THe simple solution is change the coach and introduce a new regime we have done half the job with the board and administration

Removing Pagan ... later Mitch and we will have purged most of the last 4 years awa.

Get in a new voice with new ideas and message .... a game plan ... playing and developing the list we have instead of changing the personel constanly to appease the current coach. Our list needs a change and either we get a new lease of life or the remainder of the year we can really give the kids a chance to shine and just play creative football.

Changing the coach will have a lot more positive affect for the list than hoping we loose every match and find our kids have struggled to progress and perform get demorilised and lack oppertunity when picked . Do you think Murph and Gibbs want to loose every week worse still want there own team supporters wishing them to loose.
I would even prefer the care taker coach to teach and support the kids more and if we win less than 4 games but the kids get proper game time the bench is used and a game plan is developed then we will have gotten more out of the year.

Also Ratts at least if he was care taker would be talking with Mitch will help start to link the seniors and bullants together which at present is like to completely seperate teams.

Judging by the team selections in is very clear Pagan hasn't got his eye on development - He wants wins

I have a funny feeling that the Pratt comment of 10-11 wins is going to hurt us in the long run .

Pagan will bust his arse and end up in no mans land probably with 5 wins
