Its possible you know. But if the ferals kick up a stink they can get flowered! They were all happy to see us lose the opportunity last year when the club made 4 submissions for reconsideration on the rule change after all the clubs voted for the rule change in 2005. The ferals voted for the change so they can live by it now. That’s if ofcourse we only manage another 2 wins…

If we haven't won another game by round 12 then a pp looks on the cards

Good to see our fans are finally seeing the big picture. Lets get the PP this season and make our assault next year. I'm confident with our young kids at the moment....imagine throwing in picks 1 and 3 from this years draft also!!! This is all we need and we will be ready.

Not the real fans!!! The real fans want us to win every time we play, and feel pain and anger when we dont!!!!

Yep thats us we are the real fans wanting to finish a fighting 9th or 10th every season for around 25 years - get mediocre instead of elite talent on our list.

Yep we're fine as we are, our list does not need any improvement - we will be challenging for a spot in the 8 next year, top 4 finish in 2009, flag in 2010.

Just wondering Agro, when Collingwood won on Saturday, did you sing their song with them? Were you yelling for Didak to hit Fev in the melee? Did you clap and cheer Thomas when he gave his late bump on Murph. Your logic stinks, and just doesnt make sense!!!

No actually - I was @#$%&! pissed off. I actually left at the 20 minute mark of the last quarter I copped and gave a serve from the @#$%&! Filth supporters around.

It made me sick to the @#$%&! stomach the amount of crap that Murphy copped (and has been copping) without anyone flying the flag - and it actually warmed the cockles of my heart to see us give a bit back at 1/4 time.

I really have had enough of these 5 seasons of losing - these 5 seasons of VERY ORDINARY Carlton Playing Lists.

I for one would love to be able go out with a stack of FORM FOURS and just go and sign, Chris Judd, Jonathon Brown and Dean Cox to solve most of our problems. But unfortunately it aint going to happen, because the flowers at the AFL introduced a thing called a National Draft and a Salary Cap - and unfortunatley we were the last @#$%&! team to embrace the concept and we are now paying for it.

Sure it would be great to have a few cheap wins like we did in 2004 finish 10th and get Pick 9 - it would be a great short term ego fix - so the likes of you can strut about the water cooler at work on a Monday morning and say what a great side we are.

But my friend - I am in for a long term fix - I want my kids to see a dynasty of success like I grew up being used to and if it means another season of shite - to get some more quality on our list - and my god we need it.

That is my logic - it makes perfect sense you may not like it - but that is the reality.

REALITY - it seems to be a foreign concept around here at the moment.

Whilst the game is on I am passionately supporting the team. When it is over I come to my senses and that is the only way to build a new era is to go through a bad one. Most clubs have not had to endure it for so long ... we unfortunately started at such a very low base.

Having said that It is one thing to obatin talent and it is another thing to enhance. This will be the test of the club over the coming years.

I believe our launch will commence from 2008. I see improvement. I just the players don't lose faith.

AGRO,
For us to be a force again what do you reccommend we achieve out of the next draft ? What will create the so called Dynasty you are wanting?
I think we are many more drafts away from being a force again.

So if the kids we pick in the next draft again are duds, what does that mean? We will never be a force again?? For us to be a Dynasty again we need the priority pick and the next pick to 100% correct. No mistakes No excuses.

It's a hard one but at the same time I haven't spent well earned money to go see a coach play duds, has beens & wannabees all year around.
If we are loosing I want to see development in the kids, I wanna see players like Ackland dropped, Whitnall, dropped,Lappin dropped ETC.

No matter how much talent or number draft picks we get with Pagan at the helm we will never be a force a gain.NEVER!

it comes back to the whole tanking idea...i think long term it'll do the club MASSIVE favours if we won only 4 or 5 games this year and got the PP...however, i also feel that we're capable of winning 7 or 8 games this year...yet i acknowledge that we're FAR from where we should be and arent in any position to challenge for the top 8 next year...but no team will ever/ or should ever tank games...if we're not good enough to win 5 or more games this year, so be it...otherwise all i want is 22 rounds of the boys having a dig at the moment..(yeh im easily pleased)

I don't support tanking, but happy to embrace that rule if season end arrives and we have four or less wins!

I hate losing juat as much as the next bloke but.........

We have been in this hole for a while now and the way i see it is,

Would i really notice the difference if it went on for another 15 games???

The answer is no. It would pretty much be a blurr with the rest of it when we are back to where we belong.

Will i notice the difference the 2 picks in the top 3 will make??

No doubt, not many duds have been picked from the top 3 picks. Not to mention we have doubled our recruiters now, so it will be twice as hard to make the mistake this year.

Must happen as far as I'm concerned, especially now that the season is a write off again already..

2008 will be huge if we can pull it off.

I would rather spend an extra year around the bottom of the ladder, and be a force for a decade, than win 7 -12 games for 10 years and accept mediocrity

A couple more blue chip draft prospects in this years draft, a new coach and the redevelopment of Princes Park....2009-2013 would be a very exciting time for us.

Yes, I'd much rather the PP than winning a few meaningless games this year.

If we are 4 or less after round 18 then i accept better to try for the PP but at round 7 i want the guys to try there guts out... young kids dont wanna be running around in a team that gets belted on a weekly basis....

But i reckon the team at this point in time would benefit greater with a coach change even more so than the PP

As stated earlier easier to change a single person (Pagan)

Much harder to change 44 players for a single person (Pagan)

Fair enough, but where does that translate to years of mediocrity?

We're not the aging, hollowed out club of 2002. There's a lot to be worked with right now in terms of high level talent, and finishing with pick 5 or so in hand wouldn't be a slap to the face.

I'd like the side to have a crack at winning until mid-season at least.

wouldnt that make you a hypocrite then? hmmmm you want us to lose but fire up and get alll agro and leave when we do........

just putting it out there.......

i on the other hand would rate 10 wins, even 7 wins this year.
its a big improvement on the last mmmm 5 years ay and would shows we're heading in the right direction

If you are under 35, you mighnt know anyway, but it applies to our situation right now...

What's that Doris day song : Whatever will be, will be?

I was unhappy with the Collingwood loss, yet happy with the consolation that our players gained more experience and that the PP was still very much alive.

Indeed, if we win 4 this year, then our run of good fortune would probably begin...

A PP in 2007 would hitch Carlton to an especially exciting near future worldline...

We will be OK anyway, but it is true to say that the good times would come sooner with more first round draft picks in our side...

All the way through this crisis over the past 5 years, I have had faith and belief that Carlton will indeed triumph.

As for Richmond and the bleeding heart in the HUN saying how terrible such a circumstance would be for them - I suggest that the truth is getting in the way of a good story here.

Didnt Richmond have a heap of first round picks since 2002 - indeed more than we had.

So if they havent done well enough with their picks - isnt this their fault?

So why paint Carlton as the bad guys of the draft in that article???
