Further to what Redskin wrote, I heard today that the approach to Roos was made by Pratt and he hasnt necessairly knocked back the offer either..
All signs point to a Pagan sacking regardless..
Interesting times

I hope that Pagan plays him on the HBF.

Or maybe in the Ruck?
 What are you thinking? The only role pagan would have him playing is as a tagger

Essendon* will miss the eight and not renew Sheedy's contract.
We will finish bottom four - Pagan gawn!!
So what about Sheedy at carlton - remember he almost came to us late 70's ?around 1979

Why would we get Sheedy when Gieschen is not coaching?

At least Fev might get some favours form the umpires with the Giesh at the helm.

That is the most frightening thing I have heard for a while....

Unleash the Giesch....

I get a shiver down my spine when I say that.

perhaps a big offer to neil craig? i personally think he's about the best going round

Did anyone hear the big rumor on SEN this morning?

Pratt has told Swann to get Paul Roos. Offer is reportedly for a 5 year deal between $4m-$6m.

I would be very worried about Paul Roos, purely because I think the way the Swans play destroys football. Personally, I'd almost rather lose than play their chipping the ball around game. What would be the chance of him changing tactics at a new club? I Have the same worries with Longmire.

Like you said I'd rather Worsfld

Good point about Roos. What we ned to consider is that we have tried to recruit a type of footballer to play a certain tpe of football and if we suddenly change direction to a chipping backwards brand, it might not necessarily suit the cattle we have spent the past few years getting and developing. I like the idea of a more reckless coach who can make instant decisions and changes on the field depending on the situation and I am not sure Roos is that. I think a young Sheedy was like that. Does that mean Mark Harvey will be similar? Maybe.

I conceded that Russell may be playing without confidence, but it isn't unusual for a coach to tell his defenders to punch, most coaches will. Whitnall did the same thing. I remember Silvagni often punching when I thought he could have marked. Was that a lack of confidence because of the coach?

How about Gibbs or Walker?

I think Gibbs, like Murphy are natural footballers so don't really need any coaching. I don't think Gibbs has lost confidence. It's the athletic types and talls who need coaching/development who have either improved little or have gone backwards.

For example Setanta, Aisake....

Interesting theory.

We have the 15th best tactician in the AFL and you want to recruit the 16th. :?

Good lord.

We're not that desperate that we'd turn to Sheedy or Harvey.

Fair dinkum.

I certainly don't want to be loose...

I'd be going Guy McKenna for 3 reasons.....................

#1. It would piss-the-living-shit out of Eddie!

#2. Collingwoods list is equivilent to ours, and i'll argue that with whoever wants to take me on! It's true..............what they do have is a better coaching team to ours and i've got this feeling Guy McKenna is owed alot of thanks for how they are playing. They have really changed their style in the past couple of seasons.

#3. Collingwood is getting the best out of their youth! Pendlebury was always gonna be a superstar in my eyes, no doubt about that, but their other kids are flying and alot of praise should go to Collingwood for showing faith in them and using them correctly! (ie:- not piss-farting around getting 20min of game time).
We're not doing so well with our kids IMHO. Gibbs isn't half the player he was last year, Kennedy has so much tallent but no direction & could be confused, Blackwell is in-out-in-out-in & out again, & a bunch of others work their butts of but can't get promoted.

I'm sorry Denis.................i'm loosing faith yet again!

Dead right...our list is equal to that of Collingwood's.

A good/contemporary coach can make a big difference.

Bluey would be a good choice.

Collingwood have a band of experienced players that gets them through tight situations. Rocca, Clement, Lockyer, Burns, Buckley (when he plays), Fraser, Presti. Even Holland. That is what we dont have.
I agree that the Pies look better coached, but our lists are not equivalent
