Don't know that I would call recruiting him responsible

Youd really have to lay it all at the feet of the coach and that absolutel calamity of a Match committee man ...Sticks... another of his laughable attempts to stamp himself as the next Wes Lofts...

Another of his masterstrokes is when he brought O'Reilly to the club... remember him??
Cost us 1 priority pick... 2 first rounders.2 second rounders .. a third rounder .. a couple of psd picks and a million dollars...all for about 5 games..

The botched attempt to sack Pagan
Hiring Swan and Icke with a song a dance about them fixing the Pagan /Mitchell scenario then castrating them....etc etc etc...

Oh yeah ... we can pretend he was the brains behind Pratt coming to the club....

Kernahan can you please go to charming the blue rinse set and leave the match committee stuff up to people that have been hired for the job?
You just dont have a clue....

Have to agree with Synbad.

Sticks and the rest of the MC keep making terrible mistakes.

But when it comes to recruiting...Ackland was a real doosy.

I am sure the genius who recruited Ackland must have had the same inspired concept when they recruited French.

any good MC would have elevated/selected Jacobs/Hampson/Aisake last week.

quite frightening to think that it is getting so bad this early in the season.[/code]

How could we forget that? He's looking good at the moment too ...

Mind you, this has proved Pagan to be as good a judge of talent at other clubs as Parko ....

Never mind dancing with his sister, he can dance with Sticks .

Ackland has been poor this year but then again so was Barnaby when he came to the club. We have him for 3 years so let's hope that he drops down to the Bullants and then puts in the effort to become an option for the ruck.

Yeah but Barnaby... tried... he had work ethic... he was 200 cms.. and his knee wasnt gone.

Come to think of it... we have Ackland and Saddo that we brought to the club when other clubs would have shot them...

Pagan/Sticks combo strikes again...

This sent DP and his MC searching for a replacement. At the time, it was panic stations as it looked like we could enter the 07 season with McClaren and ??????? as our ruckmen. So, they sourced out Ackland and to entice him over had to offer him a three year deal. Remember, the Saints were in dissaray then - the coach had been sacked and they had no one at the helm. Ackland bought it and DP was a relieved man. Shortly after we claim Cloke and all was rosy there for awhile at least

And preacher Ackland is no good, so how does any of the above justify recruiting a ruckman who we don't trust toi ruck. What sort of a tinpot little operation are we? Do we have anyone keeping an eye on players from other clubs over the year. I mean it was pretty obvious over the last two years we were going to have a high PSD, why didn't we take Mathew Clarke for short term, at least he can palm the ball.

So does anyone actually know who we can blame. I need someone's face to put in the middle of my dart board. MMarkH if you read this, give us a name. There are a lot of angry supporters out here who had thought DAvenport/O'Reilly/Mansfield/ Mick MArtyn et al deals were a thing of the past. But maybe it is the whole club that is a thing of the past.

Spot on GA - he is no good and if you read between the lines you should be able to work out who is responsible. Also, there was no need to go and ask the Saints themselves whether Cain was any good. You only needed to tap Nick Stevens on the shoulder or French himself. Both played with Cain at Port and either would have told you of their opinion fairly quickly. But did we bother to ask? NO!

Like I said. We were desperate and why? Because it took us 4 years into a rebuilding phase to go to the draft and claim our first genune 18 year old developing ruckman in Hampson.

In summary, I think that someone is peeing on our backs but is telling us the drought has finally broken.

Ackland is far worse than that.

Before St Kilda recruited him he played a couple of years at the Port Magpies in the SANFL. he was dropped to the SANF magpie reserves a few times.

Not a good sign.

Pagan also wanted Zantuck... 8)
Everything is easier in hindsight but maybe an Everitt for 2 years to assist our youngsters come thru may have been the way to go. One thing is for sure though our recruiting department has performed terribly in recent times. No vision or forsight probably stemming from a lack of a clear plan from the Coach and football department.

The sooner Den Den and Sticks take some responsibility for their actions, the sooner we can move forward.

The problem is they will only go kicking and screaming.

Hell i would have been happier with Gardiner over Ackland.

McLaren is 8 weeks away
Cloke is out
Aisakie/Hampson/Jacobs are young.

Ackland is exactly where he wants to be! Came to Carlton cause he knew he'd get game-time whereas at StKilda, they don't put up with lazy bastards!

DROP HIM. Make him earn a spot in this side & moreso, make him EARN our respect.

Hell i'd rather go into the game with no ruckman at all instead of rewarding him with a game after another crap performance.
