The 22 players who run out tomorrow in the old dark navy for the last time at our cherished home have a great responsibility.
No, they didn't ask for it. And no, many of them don't deserve it.
But regardless, they have the responsibility of ensuring that the greatest club in the history of game parts ways honourably with its home and fortress of the last 100 years.
I wish it didn't have to be like this. I wish we could trot out one of our vast number of premiership teams and clean up the opposition, giving PP/OO the farewell it deserves.
Yet we can't. Instead it falls to a bunch of mostly random players brought from all corners of the footballing world to fill the void at a mighty club that has (temporarily) fallen. I don't care what these players do for the rest of the year, or their careers (except the few with potential), but tomorrow......
STAND UP AND BE COUNTED BLUEBAGGERS. Push yourselves to the limit, scratch, kick, bite, I don't care what, just give us one more day of glory on the footpaths of Royal Parade, Carlton.
