4. On target for PP. prob will be about 4-15 and then need to lose 3 50-50 games
flower disgraceful... what a mindset. Here's an idea, barrack for Richmond... you can cheer them on towards their 150 point losses and dream of PPs then.
I guess you'll be at the matches towards the end of the season, the 3 "50-50" matches... cheering on the opposition, hoping for the priority.
And you actually go to the matches cheering on the Blues. You may as well not, Carlton doesn't need a supporter like you.
Sparky... I have to stand up for SVB here... he is SPOT ON... we are not being negative.. we are being REALISTIC... since we won the NAB Cup everyones confidence has beeen inflated to believe that we have the team to play finals footy... by watching today (and most of last week) it has been proven this is incorrect. In the 90's you could 'buy players' in the early days and in the later 90s teams could even get a jimmy hird\grant type situation where you get a steal late in the draft... todays footy is different.. it is so analysed less and less good players are slipping through (of course there will always be an exception).. all SVB is saying here is that we are not at the level many think we are and the only way to move forward is to have a PP and get another A+ player.... If we dont get the PP we will get 1 A+.. but we desperately need more than that! Footy has changed.. you need to maximize your time at the bottom to maximize your time at the top... bring on the PP!
Now for my Pros and Cons:
1. Protection of Murphy - Till now we have not seen our youngsters defended when they are roughed up... today the melee before half time showed they can atleast stand up for one another
2. Setanta in the ruch - Not a great game BUT his education would be huge.. last week I wrote Setanta will be a player but where he lacks is his knowledge of the game and where the ball will come into the defensive 50 from.. Playing in the ruck running with the ball allows him to do this...
3. Murphy\Gibbs - Enough to keep you coming back.. as my point above about A+ stated before we need more players like this who dont need to learn they ooze class from day 1.
4. Fisher - He is very important to our side and may not have had his best game but showed us that he has cemented himself in the side as is important to our structure...
5 - Pagan - Sorry Sparky... but Pagan may be the wrong man.. but right now he is the man to ensure we build a good list via draft pics.. end of the year ship him out and our new coach will be licking his lips!
CONS:
1. Kouta - Not match fit shouldnt have played
2. Kennedy - Kills me... will be a good player but allows his man to get around him and twice I saw him call for the ball and rather than lead away from his man he backed back into him and allowed his man to punch. Dont kill his confidence like we did to Livo please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3- Cain - Drop him and play eddie betts in the ruck he will be more effective.
4- Eddie - As I said last week simply doesnt do enough.. has played one good qtr this year against the lions and that was it... I really want him to be our davey.. but need him not to drift in and out of games.
5- Bower - I know he didnt get much game time but as someone said before what is his position? I thought he was a running backman but he looked slow at times today and in the midfield he just didnt look like he knew where the ball was meant to go.. give him time and he may be a good player... but I personally dont know what he offered that Anderson didnt (considering I didnt believe that Anderson wasnt that bad WHEN HE WAS ON THE GROUND and Bower by all accounts wasnt really deserved of a game).....
