Oh yeh i thought Simon Wiggins was a second round selection, did we have 2 when we drafted Luke Livingston?

I think we actually had 3 first rounders that year ... Livingston, Wiggins and Sporn

reads more like 3 fifth rounders

Livo and Wiggins were touted as early selections and indeed they were. Sporn not so much. It's not like we deliberately went out to pick utter gumbys, but with 7 years hindsight that's what we did.

Although the three picks between Sporn and Wiggo make for depressing reading:
12 - Shaun Burgoyne
13 - Ashley McGrath
14 - Daniel Harris

:(

Pick 18 in the 2000 draft is depressing.

Imagine Walker, Burgoyne, Kerr, Murphy, K.Cornes, Cassisi and Gibbs playing in the one midfield.

Chad and Kane Cornes could have been ours and it shits to me to tears that we overlooked two Glenelg players. :x

And both landed at Port.

North's kids are terrible. 8)
Yeh North Kids don't look as good but they found a couple of good rookies that were overlooked because of their size who were very good under 18 players + Lachlan Hansen and Daniel Wells and the two Ruckman, lets trade Whitnall for one of them, lol.

Aaron Edwards has been a handy pick up....

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but I reckon he's been fairly ordinary.

Got to stick my bib in hear PJ................Edwards is a very talented player.Seen this kid as a junior and it was very obvious he was AFL bound..........I would loved Edwards to have lobbed at The Blues. The thing with Edwards is,not only does he have super talent, but he has the mongrel factor that we badly lack at the moment. You might say Edwards has the flair of Fev and the toughness of Archer..............sheeeeesh ! if only.

Fine, Mick, but he hasn't shown anything yet to suggest he's that sort of player.

Got a fair bit of hype on him during the off season, and while I accept that the VFL is a lot different to AFL, he still hasn't shown anything to justify his selection at the draft table.

Got to argue again PJ...............he played a terrific game against Geelong, and a sensational game against Sydney. You know your stuff PJ,but i gotta say i am amazed that you cant see his natural talent.Mate, the guy has got hands like a vice.
And as far as the VFL goes..........yep big differance for sure.........but Edwards showed his ability as an 18 year old with the West Coast.Blitzed in his first game against Tigers on debut...........fell out of favour with Worsfold over discipline problems. And thats not to mention his freindship with Daniel Kerr........But Edwards has grown up a hell of a lot and has matured out of site.Reckon Edwards has shown that if you put your head down and your backside up YOU CAN turn things around.
