i don't agree with the way the game is umpired

but we all know if you put your hands in the players back, even if they are only there for a split second and there is no force, you leave yourself open to the umpires interpretation
so why do players continue to put their hands in the back?
why can't they be smart enough to turn their body slighly sideways and use their hip or even their shoulder, to keep their opponent under the ball.
we are talking about highly paid professional footballers, surely they can see things are not working and they need to changes the way they go about things.
it's quite simple, if you are getting pinged for hands in the back, stop putting your hands in the back.
actually here is a novel idea, how about fwd's start playing from infront.
Try doing something one way for 10-20 years and then try to stop doing it that way in a couple of months. See how successful you are. It's not so easy is it. It'll take time to adapt - much time. It's not a simple rule change like kicking the ball 15 metres instead of 10 metres to ensure a mark is paid. Marking contests are very quick and instinctual.
btw, what the hell has how much a player gets paid got anything to do with putting your hands in someones back! Not trying to have a go at you in particular but I hate that argument. Our footballers are well under paid compared to professional athletes in other sports in other countries. Especially considering how much harder they have to work and how damaged their bodies get from playing the game. Someone like Greg Williams won't be able to walk properly when his 50 years old because he has no cartlidge in his knees. Is that worth a couple of million over his career?
i play footy, yeah its local footy and not afl and each year there are rule changes
i manage to adapt my game as do the majority of other players
you do it once you get a free paid against you
you do it again and a free is paid against you
you don't do it a third time as you have learnt
if afl players want to be professionals they need to learn to change with the rules, it's their responsibility to adapt their games, regardless of how ridiculous the rules are.
it's not hard to adapt to the rule changes, its just easier for the players to try and bend the hands in the back rule.
the other problem is that there is no consistency in the rule, so once again players try to bend the rules.
every profession has its injuries and drawbacks, afl footballers are well paid and well looked after.
what about data entry people, sitting infront of a computer screen all day, is that good for their eyes, how about the RSI they suffer?
what about the factory worker that works 6 days a week on a sewing maching for $28,000 a year, who suffers from carpen tunnel syndrome and struggles to hold a cup of coffee in their hand?
