Positives

Waite - credit where its due, I'm not convinced with Waite but he did a great job tonight.
Blackwell - Should stay in the side before Bentick
Fev - Six good goals
Lance - getting better

Negatives

Game plan - concide we were not good enough but the margin should not have been 40+
Murphy - to think some wanted to trade Stevens last year
Carazzo - disposal, droping the ball like Sticks from high up
Houlihan - Tends to escape the spotlight, this guy has played 140+ plus games
Bentick - I admire his endeavour but ????

Pros:
Waite - did everything wrong last week, did everything right this week.
Young - Looked good, should get quite a few games this year.
Fevola - 3 on 1 still manage to kick a bag.

Cons:
Not chasing hard enough at times, gave up too easily.
JR - every game he played so far this year he has a give away free kicks for high tackling on opposition players. Dumb clumsy tackling week in week out.
Sentanta - Made some bad decisions. His 1 on 1 are non existence. He concentrates on where the ball is and totally ignored pushing and shoving his opponent, hence gets pushed off way too easily. I hope he does some extra 1 on 1 contest during training.
Kennedy - where the f was he?

PROS:

Waite - previously mentioned
Fev - previously mentioned
Blackwell - showed patches in the 3rd quarter, but then again, so did everyone else for a few minutes
Simmo - quality, and hard at it too tonight

CONS:

Gameplan - moreso a lack of changing a game plan when the opposition changes something up
JR - at least he saw some ball this week, doesnt look like being a quality midfielder IMO
Loose Men - bloody hell this annoyed me tonight, st kilda just plodded it down the ground with short 20 m kicks to a bloke under no pressure constantly. How no one can run next to Nick Dal Santo and stop him getting possesions when he is completely by himself under no pressure irritates me
Setanta - i think we all thought he was ahead of where he is
Thorton - played fancy football too often. outside of the foot pass into the middle in our defensive 50, too cute mate.
Kennedy - needs more runs in the 2's, he is non existant.

Pros:

Waite - looked like a true CHB tonight...top game. Close checking, good spoiling, no mistakes (and we just have to accept that he will do some sill things), and some good rebound.

Young and Blackwell did some nice things.

Cons:

Completely and absolutely out-coached...again.

Played only 10 miutes of good football. Goes on top of 1 1/2 quarters against Richmond, 2 quarters against Essendon*, about half a quarter against WC, and maybe a half against Brisbane. That's about it folks.

But it's all ok, cause they're trying as hard as they can

Pros

Fevs - still delivers with no help. Needs to stop sooking to the umpires or else he will take the mantle from Lloyd.

Waite - great game, beat Reiwoldt and kept at it all night. Needs to blanket his opponent more though.

Simmo - had a crack at least and backed himself.

Cons

Kennedy - how can the kid get anywhere near the ball when he spends most of the night running to and from the bench?? A pseudo ruckman no less..what the hell did we recruit Cloke and Ackland for? Wasted.

Our gameplan - do we ever learn!! Same old same old.

Our coach - time to make him accountable! Admit when you are out coached Pagan and stop blaming the kids. Fevs in the midfield!!??

Scotland, Lappin, Houla, Fevs, Lance - you guys are our leaders, so LEAD

Pro
Waite easily won the Riewald contest
Thornton played well across half back

Cons
Game plan didnt work tonite and probably hasnt worked for 3 years.
Coaching - getting to be a weekly thing Pagan being outcoached

Bit poor having a go at Ratts yes he is the forward coach but Fev being tag teamed and bombing long into the goal square has been the game plane for last 3 years long before Ratten appeared on the scene

If i rem in a preseason training Corsisca and Ratts where working on set plays and taking avenues to goal. While they where trying these things Pagan just told the kids to kick long into the square .... ala bomb away

So i think even if Ratts or Corsica try things unfortunately Pagan just goes back to plan bomb it in long

Actually. Just thought of another Con. Fev yapping at Murphy at three quarter time was just [REDACTED]. He's a senior player and should be encouraging. It was a stupid play but he's only eighteen. Arm around the shoulder and a quiet word in the ear would have done the trick nicely. Poor form.

Waite and Whitnall

CONS
Pagan and his offsiders. "What gameplan?"
Other teams play to a system, we just have good luck.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Ratts the forward coach??? Therefore should not our creative (master tackling!!!!) midfield coach in TL be instructing our players to look for other targets!!! This guy has added nothing to our team. Has taken this club 5 yrs to discover the notion of rotations. That together with the worst tackling technique in the league.

pros
Waite - great game
Whitnall - probably one of our best - 3.2, at least 2 goal assists that I can recall (Fev/eddie), plenty around the ground
Blackwell - good in clinches, showed a lot
Simpson/walker/Scotland - all did some nice things

Negs
Ackland/Cloke ruck combo (and forward combo)
Fev - nice to kick 6 goals but the petulance is a massive black mark against his performance
Kennedy - needs to get more of it - either more time on ground or a stint in the seconds
bentick/carazzo - didnt do enough

we dont have a flower game plan - none whatsoever - dont even bother talking about leadership on the field we have none at all in the coaching box

the boys have no idea what they are meant to be doing out there - bomb it long and chase tail

great development

all of us could see last week what the saints would do to us - yet our coach had no plans at all for it and comes out with the excuse we ran out of legs  we were in the game for all of 5 minutes because the opposition took their foot off the pedal

ran out of legs - shit - shutup denis

I thought the same Heavs.

I also thought the same. Murphy puts in as much, if not more effort than any player in this team - from game start to game finish - busts his gut - always - as well as showing class. To have a team-mate have a go at you for making a decision that didn't come off must have been devastating and humiliating for Murph.

And for God's sake, Murph was just trying to be positive by keeping the ball in and hopefully starting another Blues attack! We were on a roll at that point - all he wanted to do was to keep the momentum going. While it didn't come off, at the very least it was a 'positive' error.

Fev - the player who gives up when the ball is still in play - having a go at a bloke who works his a** off constantly...mmmm

And two other cons: The ease at which St Kilda brought the ball out from their backline.

The white strip. No need for it.

And by the way,

Out: Kennedy
Stays in: Blackwell :)

Did Bentick play tonight? In fact has he played at all in the last 3 weeks?
If he did play it's a pro because he'll finally get dropped.

Over to you Wangers.
He was quiet today but saying he hasn't done anthing in 3 weeks is a bit hard,he got us in the game a few weeks back, just isn't consistant like several players on the list.

Waitey was good.

Tbird was ok.

Positives:
- Waite was very good
- Walker
- Russell keeps improving
- Blackwell shows good signs (better option than Bentick)

Negatives:
- Bentick (not up to AFL level IMO)
- Carazzo
- O'Hailpin played poorly again - hopefully he will learn from the experience.

Flower you Fev ..... would have loved you in the team when Williams was playing ..... he would have sat you on your arse had you tried that on him.

Lance- I loved the way he addressed the group at 1/2 time, some real passion from Lance that we havent seen from a Carlton Captain since Sticks..
Credit where it is due.

Blackwell should stay in for the rest of the season.

Cons..

Santy's confidence looks shot.

Kennedys ditto.

Gibbs looks a little lost.

On paper we had a better team and lost...
