Hellish crowd awaits Demons
Malcolm Conn and Greg Denham
May 19, 2005

MELBOURNE coach Neale Daniher is treating his team's part in Carlton's Optus Oval farewell match on Saturday like an interstate final, so parochial and passionate does he expect the hostile crowd to be.

i cant wait for thsi game. should be an amazing and unique atmosphere on saturday.

gee a win would be great. the crowd would go nuts, and i hope we win the toss so we can go to the heatly end first (and for the third term).

Other way round for me...I'd love to have them kicking to the social club end for the last quarter, especially to seal a win

yep - its all about coming back from 3 goals and kicking towards the social club in the final quarter.

imagine if fev takes a mark and the siren goes and we need a goal to win and he kicks it

the place will go flower mental

How sad would it be not to get to hear that famous old song ringing around the stands one more time, and how good would it be to once again hear 30K+ people singing it. If we get up on the weekend you'd reckon they will play the song 10 times in a row. If they play the Melbourne song there will be silence!!

Let's hope we all have something to cheer about. Match has virtually been over last 2 weeks before 1/4 time.

Well I bought my ticket weeks ago and then Dad rings me on Wednesday to tell me that he's organised a box for the whole family. My 94 year old Pop will be there (his first game for a couple of years, and perhaps his last dare I say it) and all my uncles, aunts and cousins, all Blues fans.

I'm sure there would be a great atmosphere in the stands with the peasants but I can't wait to share this momentous day with my Pop who is near deaf and be able to cheer like a man possessed if we win.

Unless we play some of our youngsters I'm not that worried if we win or lose this week....winning on emotion may just mask some of our real problems and give false hope....fair enough play Morrell, clarke etc and I hope they have blinders but whats the reality?..these blokes going to be in our next flag team. Be different if it was Walker with 30 possies, Blackwell with 30 possies and Hartlett with six goals....thats your future and worth waving you Blues jacket Sheedy style.....Digby and Clarkey good luck to em but who we kidding......dropping Bentick may help you win this game but it wont help us win a flag down the track...

your a happy camper arent you

some people are always negative - and the game hasnt even flower happened yet

this game isnt about finals, it isnt about kids, it isnt about down hill skiers, this game is about the club and anything less than a victory will be a disaster.

A win wont gloss over anything, but a win will certainly be a fitting gesture to the old ground, mayhaps a win this week could be the start of our a form revival for us that will see us playing like we did in the Wizzer Cup. But let me guess, you thought the wizzer cup was crap and that we are shit and cant beat anyone anyways

amazing, negative about everything, some people are

Couldn't agree more .........

Kicking to the Social Club end in the last quarter would bring the "HOUSE" down literally and hopefully a good win to say goodbye to a ground that has given us so much pleasue over the years :D

We have to win this game, it's that simple, I can't imagine the feeling if we were to lose...I know that Melbourne is a better side than us but for obvious reasons it will be a travesty to lose this..

I would also have thought that if supporters wanted us to win one game this season, this would be the one? I couldn't care less how we win I just want to get back onto the winners' list and the occasion almost demands that we do so...

Correct Mr. President.

This is about the club, the holy turf, and the reason we are proud of the navy blue.

Yes elwood, we're currently shit, we all know we're shit, you don't need to harp on about it. Fact is that while our team is well below par, our club is the greatest in the history of the game and we part with the majority of our history on saturday.

It will really hurt if we lose. Even though we're odds on to lose it will still hurt.

As I've said in another thread i find it hard to contemplate a fanatical blues fan with no sentimentality toward our holy Princes Park.
