The old olive branch being extended to the bankrupt one...fair enough I guess...we all shared some arrogance with Jack when we won those flags and bought our way to premeirship success so let him come along and say goodbye to the good old days...
I think Collo has proved he is the bigger man by his actions.....pity one of the major players in recent forum events couldnt have swallowed some pride and proved himself to be the bigger man as well....

Poor bastard. Having no money, he's probably just turning up for the free lunch.

Lets get one thing straight about John Elliot he became President in 1983 following the most successful 15 year period in our clubs history (ie. where we won 6 flags - one every 2.5 years).

Following John Elliotts appointment we won 2 flags in 19 years, so lets not get too carried away with the premiership success we enjoyed under John Elliott. :?

AGRO - you are spot on mate. Lots of people romanticize the Elliot era. He took over a club that had the best list in the comp and an infrustructure at the time thet was second to none in the league. Yes he made some great acquisitions of talent, but failed to deliver on the advantages we had. With what he inherrited 2 premierships in 19 years is not great. In todays socialist football state its probably good.

Silly me, I thought coaches and players were responsible for winning premierships.

Absolutely buzzaaah, but elliot and his board totally failed to grasp the changing ways of the league when we were in a prime position to exploit the early drafts because of our infrastructure etc. If we had of been the first club to get serious with thedraft rather than the last the 2 flags might have been 4 or 6. he took over the most successful club in the league at the height of its powers and reduced it to the shambles we were in 2002

Unfortunately these days - football is a business (and dont blame me for that I still hanker for the days when it wasn't it) and if it is a business responsibility lays with the Board of Management that run the club and appoint the staff.
