Baum, like the rest of the non-Carlton football community, will catch on in due time.

If he wants to highlight his complete and utter ignorance in such a public fashion then so be it.

Setanta still had a couple of victories in one-on-one contested ball on Saturday night.

We have 2009's best full back in the league on our hands.

It's Monday..Baum has to write something...so it fribbles out...
Deano...your summay was much, much better...
I would suggest we save this article for circa 2009 and ask GB for a comment then :)

Greg Baum is just looking for some publicity.
Im sure hes enjoying the reaction he's getting from us while he's scrolling through this thread.
Greg, you'll get even more publicity here when Setanta becomes a gun, stay tuned.

I know I only react to what’s said about Carlton, but do media people love getting stuck into Carlton because they know they’ll get a passionate reaction and generate talk and interest for us supporters. Otherwise it is such an absurd, irrational, unprofessional thing to write about an Irish recruit who is 20 games into a career in a foreign game, who played on the best forward currently in the game by a fair stretch. And I heard Browny say a couple of times that Carlos in a couple of years is going to be a scary proposition and has a good future and I’ll take what he saying over your tripe anyday, B(a)um muncher

Spot on. One of the best, if not the best going around.

Having said that, I don't understand the attack on Setanta. I actually thought he did OK all things considered, and the fact that the coaching staff left him there all night shows that they are serious about developing him (which shows paitience and faith in him) or that there wasn't a better match up.

a MYTH?!!?!?!?!?!?
How exactly is Carlos a myth???? Myth shmyth, he's playing and scaring the living daylights out of some of the greatest backmen, dare i say it ever.

I don't really want to refer to the NAB gf, and although Brown managed a couple of goals towards the end, Setanta certainly won the contest then.

Myth? certainly not

By all means talk up Brown, he deserves it, he's a champion but don't go out attacking a guy who first kicked a ball 3 or 4 yrs ago. Setanta has taken on something quite remarkable and is showing great improvement, It's unfair to him.

My other half commented on Setanta, he said perhaps if Setanta had a Footy background he would be outmarking his opponents more often as he gets in good position and often gets up high enough to mark but punches because of instruction. Maybe he's right and this will come with time and confidence, he will be outmarking quite a bit hopefully.

Maybe he's worried about him coming for Rocca.

Brown would of beaten anyone that night with the delivery the quick movement of the pill the space he was given and that Carlos had no help. Maybe sUGAR aCKLAND COULD HAVE DROPPED BACK IN THE HOLE BUT pAGAN IS TOO DUMB TO TRY THAT. Carlos was towelled up, but had little help. Ackland woudnt put a body on a beanbag.

I agree that Baum's stuff is usually good, i think he praises Whitnall in the same article, and does so with a bit of flair too.

That said, i was suprised at the way he had a go at Carlos...not sure if he would go so hard at one of his Magpies, with so little cause. The cult following Carlos has, is no fault of Carlos, who is a hard working recruit, with great potential, who has played less football up till now than most of his opponents had played at 10 years of age.

I'd love it if Setanta walked into the Age headquarters, made a bee line for Baum, not say a word, punch his @#$%&! lights out and then leave.

That'd be cool.
