Pros
That first half--some of the most pleasing footy by a Carlton side for a long, long time!
Eddie Betts!
Cameron Cloke!
Kade Simpson!

Cons
We ran out of legs for the first time this year.
We didn't punish the Lions on the scoreboard.
We should have won.

Pros:
Lance has stepped up... bout time!
CLOKE!!!!!!
multiple goal kickers with three goals each
We are a competitive unit, the margin was close and when Brisbane got ahead we didn't let them get far ala Geelong and WCE

Cons:
Where was Murph?
Waites fumbling
JK - I don't seen any improvement, he went up in front of his opponent for easy marks and they all slipped through his hands...hasn't seemed to be impacting much
Fev DID mark in the 3rd...bloody umpire
Where did everyone go in the last quarter?

last year losing was a royal pain in the bum, but i didn't let it bother me much, made sure i felt numb each week after the footy, but now there is an entire new feeling and for the first time in a long time... a loss hurt

just looking at the AFL record, we've broken our record for best 2nd quarter score against the brisbane lions. the previous record was 8.5.53 in round 10, 1987 at Princes Park and the new record is 9.2.56.

Nice, sounds like something that needs to be put up on the blueseum.

Bridging the gap between us and the Lions and actually look like winning
Simpson
Walker developing nicely
JK doing some hard body work in the packs
JR doing things he did not do last year
Andersons endeavor and pace
Eddy - we love ya bro

Cons -

Waite, limited footy smarts
JK not pulling down the marks
Carrazo's skills

Fev's body language
Three players fumbling the ball allowing the Lions the ascendancy in the last quater

What he said plus I'd add the following cons:

- Wiggins & Bentick struggled again. Even though they both try their guts out, their is no "hurt factor" in their game and both probably lack the skills at AFL level.

PROS
Walker - looked the goods
Simpson - better all the time
Whitnall - back to some touch
Kennedy - finally got some decent touches
Multiple goalkickers - wasn't the Fev show
Cloke - nice work up forward
Losing - but still went away fairly satisfied

CONS
Umpires - again
Fevola - too much carry on (even remonstrating with umpire at one point and missing fact ball was still alive)
3 way stuff up in last quarter - lucky McGrath goal

Pros:

Good 2.5 quarters of football.

Cons:

- We should of won that game, not good enough. We should not accept respectable loses, expecially against Brisbane. If we want to be good then the players should feel the hurt this morning.
- Another 20 goals kicked against us.
- Lack of Four quarter effort, by too many players.

Bit harsh on Bentick. Thought he did well on Black, particularly in the first half.

Fev didn't seem interested tonight. Nice to see JR get a bit more of the ball, tho he faded. Where did Lance go after half-time???

Joey did a couple of nice things during his brief appearances - apart from turning back into trouble in the last quarter.

Gibbs didn't see a lot of it but showed some amazing poise a couple of times. Already, everytime he gets the ball you know it will end up with a teammate ... unlike a few teammates when you just hope they will spot someone up.

Pros - the kids
Cons - No Stevens, with him we would have won! Murph is getting belted out of the game because we have no other midfield players that can really hurt an opposition so he gets the mian tagger ( although great to see Simmo step up last night).

Pros
Simmo
Whit first half
Good hard work by Cloke
Anderson did enough to look like he'll be a good player
Betts very clever
No flooding, we are playing the most entertaining games. Makes it tough on our backline with no cover but be good in the long term
Gibbs showed a lot of class several times
Would have won if Stevens was fit and playing

Cons
Fev was shocking, I hope we don't see any more Fev for Captain threads after that. At least three times he stopped playing to whinge to the umpire while play continued, leaving his team one short, allowing Lions to repel and letting down his club. He has been in the AFL 10 seasons, why is he behaving like an arrogant U12. He should whatch J Brown to see how champion forwards play. No excuses, terribly disappointing and may have cost us the game.

Wiggo - I've waited and waited and hoped, but 5 years of senior footy and hye hasn't improved. He has great endeavour but just doesn't get the footy. He is similar to our other great first rounders of 2000 in that he looks a few metres behind the game

Kennedy - Early days, but looks a metre off the pace at present. Doesn't look to have 5 metres of speed to become an elite forward. Hopefully he develops well but strugggling at present. May be more Leigh Brown than Jonathan Brown at this stage

Waite - the mandatory two brain explosions.

Some great experience for Joey & Setanta. Please keep Joey at this level so he can develop and learn at this pace.
Jonathon Brown is up there with Carey & Brereton IMO. One of the best ever. The experience for Setanta is invaluable.

Houlihan was very good for a lot of the game.

JK contested & brought other team mates into the play. Good game.

Simmo was back to his best. Extremely dangerous when he has space around HF.

JR had a good game.

Lances fitness is killing him.

AB is suited to the dome.

Waitey's brain is still developing. Did some nice things though and should be persisted with in defence until Jamison/Austin/Flint/etc. are ready to step up.

Fev will kick 10 next week

Walks and Scotto are our best onfield leaders.
