I know there was a thread recently about boycotting purchasing any merchandise within the Dome.

This is a good thing to do because that money goes to Essendon*, however there is one outlet within the Dome on matchdays where the money does go to the CFC.

According to the Thursday update:

Carlton Shop at The Dome
Visit The Carlton Shop inside the ground this Saturday night and at every Carlton home game at The Dome this season. The Carlton Shop will be located on level one inside Gate 7, aisle 24. Remember this is the official Carlton Football Club outlet and your money stays with your club. Purchase from other outlets and the profits go elsewhere including to the Essendon* Football Club. Remember purchase your Carlton merchandise from the official Carlton outlet inside Gate 7, aisle 24, at The Dome.

So please DO buy merchandise from this stand and let any of your Carlton supporting friends and relatives know this as well.

The player have to work as a team on the ground for the betterment of the club and least we can do as supporters is work as a team off the ground. :-D

Why do the scum get profits from Carlton merchandise?

They were the first "anchor" tenant to sign up with the Dome, as a result of that foresight they were able to include caveats on their deal that sees them earn a percentage of merchandise sales, and that no other club can get a better deal than them at the Dome.

Meanwhile, in another example of our administration not understanding the climate of the day, we just put a few more coats of paint on our white elephant that we call the Legends Stand.

Part of their stadium deal means that they get some profits from merchandise sold in some parts of the stadium.

However with the stall indicated above ALL MONEY GOES TO THE CARLTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

SO yes boycott everything except this stall.

That's incredible, the club should send out emails letting all members know.

It was in the Thursday update email which I think goes out to about 15,000 email addresses. However, it is down near the bottom and a large proportion would not have read it.

So if we can get word of mouth out using the Forums hopefully a wider cross section of supporters can be informed about it.

TheGame, if you could start up a similar thread on CSC that would be great. :)

When I was in Melb for the Geelong game I had a couple of beer at the Social Club early on the Sat arvo. I got there after the shop closed  but spoke with the staff who were very helpfull. I explained I didnt want to spend my money anywhere but where the club would get the most benefit from it - they directed me to the Carlton tent outside the ground and assured me it was definately the best way.

On a side note they club staff were great including opening up the social club to show me the renovations (painting) and allow Mrs3 to go upstairs and have a good around at the ground.

Essendon* run the shops as far as I know. They dont just get a share, they get the profits. Great deal for them , it explains why they left the G. You will notice the shops have a large Essendon* section that is permanent, then the 2 competing teams (They used to anyway)

Does this include the merchandise tents outside the ground? If so, I feel dirty buying from there last weekend.

Safest bet is to get to Princes Park, schedule permitting, and buy direct from the Carlton shop there. ;)

I think there should be some signage attached to the Essendon-run shop which says something like "All the profits from this shop go to the Essendon* Football Club. If you want your sales to help your club buy your merchandise from (insert location of our store here)"
