Apparently, one caller into the radio tonight said that the word he is hearing (from no identified source) is that Chris Judd has played his last game against the Blues.

Commented that Richard Pratt's jet didnt leave Perth until very late last night....

yawn

but

can any of our players "work" for VISY part time and earn say 400k a year to offset say only 200k they get paid from carlton under the salary cap?

or is this salary cap cheating?

It worked for Essendon* with James Hird and his stockbroking "job" at JB Were.

I've heard this bloke about 5 times call various sports shows over the weekend, with the message that Judd is coming to Carlton. As much as I would normally listen attentively to blokes who serially call talk back stations, this guy doesn't seem aware of the current player transfer system.

Exactly, he lost me when he said Judd had signed up.

The other interesting story that came out was that when Pratt agreed to become President one of the first things he did was go to the AFL and ask who the best CEO was. He was obviously told Swann (and maybe Cook), phoned Swann the next day and told him he was working for Carlton. When Swann said no I'm with the Magpies Pratt told him not anymore :-D Maybe its true, maybe not, but a great story anyway

Nah, doesn't sound right.

If they wanted Judd they would have left the Jet in Perth parked out the front of Judd's house with the keys in the ignition.

So 1 Chris Judd or 2 Nick Stevens?

Imagine if we had;

2 x Nick Stevens
1 x Marc Murphy
1 x Bryce Gibbs
1 x Kade Simpson
1 x Andrew Walker

When 1 Nick Stevens is out the other is still there. When 1 Chris Judd is out nobody replaces him. When Judd was out last year Cousins and Kerr stepped up and that's the quality of the Eagles. It also helps when you have the All Australian ruck.

Salary cap wise (looking forward) $1Million is a lot of money. Players age and injuries occur. Young talent is let go or players we didn't want to lose are lost.

1 x Chris Judd = 2 x Nick Stevens in $$ terms.

Great player though.

Just have to find another Nick Stevens now....

But Murphy and Gibbs will be our cousins and Kerr in the next few years.

Note: All my comments in reference to WCE in this thread relate purely to their onfield performance.

I dunno about this................

If we pay him a $million per year then we are gonna find it VERY difficult to keep the likes of Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Fev in the next few years.

Look at the strain that Kouta's contract put us under. Now had Kouta not injured himself he might as well continued that amazing form of 2000 and we wouldn't need anybody else in the team cause he was winning matchesof his own boot anyway....................

But if we sign up Judd for a $million and (lord forbid) he does he knee then we're stuffed.

And what would we give up for him?
Our first pick two picks of this years draft plus Kennedy would probably be what they'd ask for but i just wouldn't do it. It's just too much.

I dunno. It's a bit to expensive, but i can see what all the fuss is! He is damn good.

I'd say Collingwood wil nab him, if he does leave................i just reckon with Buckly sure to leave, eddie will do whatever it takes to fill the void of a champion in that team (of which they'll have none once Bucks steps down.)

How much do these Google adds generate lets turn this site into a money making machine. put banner on the top, ads on the left and right scroll bars. We can sponger Juddy on the side.

I dont mind looking at ads as long as Judd is in the navy blue :-D

P.S I know this will not happen but I can dream

salary cap...cough...2002...hmm...cough...salary cap

"Cash no....no cash....cash no chopper..."

1million a year= Kouta retires, Whitnall glue factory and Stevens delisted.

Semi reasonable...but....really....is this the best idea?

lets build our own ark.

It will take longer but will feel better in the long run.
