I'm not sure what the issues would be with respect to sunglare on the screen etc and the fact that the goalposts would need to be temporarily removed but it would be great to have the screen facing the Social Club.

allow people to get onto the playing surface so that they can play kick to kick at half time/full time.

Also a Jumping castle might help convice the missus to take the kids along as well.

Let's make it gougingly expensive food and grog, no pass outs and vertigo inducing seating and it'll be just like a game at the Dome.

Yeah, and ban any kids waving banners and anything branded 'chicken'.

And ban kicking the footy.

Actually you could ban smoking in the ground so the kiddies don't cark it too early in life.

and sell cheap grog.

Great idea. I would definately come. If done right, this has a lot of potential.

Important to ensure that sound/picture quality is right though.

Yeah, definitely a great idea and one that would be pretty popular. Just re-inforce some of the issues that have been mentioned. Things that would be paramount to it being a huge success:

- video and audio quality
- food and drink available and of a decent standard
- having a kick after the game and during half time on the ground would be great

Maybe have spot prizes for people who could put down their choices for first Carlton goal etc - some little piece of merchandise (a Carlton footy or something)

The thing I like the most about this idea, is that we are lucky in that we are one of only a few clubs that have a whole football oval at our disposal for this sort of thing... shame there's no real football being played there, but using the ground in this way is a terrific idea!

Throw in the odd raffle/fundraiser, a decent Carlton-loving MC for the game *for during the breaks*, some fun for the kiddies, decent food *and beer* readily available and the opportunity to watch a Carlton match with nobody else but a stack of Blues supporters - and you have yourselves an idea that - given time - could become a very decent money spinner for the club.

The one thing that drew this idea to me, is the sight of a semi on the ground with a massive screen on the back. Something to attract attention. Something to splash sponsorship up on. Something to make the opposition supporters grumble that 'they' don't get a massive screen on a semi at their home ground for interstate matches!

As long as it is reasonably priced *gold coin for members, $5 for non-members* - people, with foxtel or without, will want to go to the ground to watch the game. :P

Knowing you, you'd probably hit the TV in a rush-of-blood moment. :P

Two things that give people the irits. Being gouged price wise for things and standing in seemingly endless lines. Avoid this and there should be no problems getting people to attend.

Examples how to avoid:

Brews - just have a container with cans of brew and ice and people can purchase and get stuck into them quickly. Rock on!

If the screen's in the right spot on the oval, sell the seats on the bench with drinks and waiter service etc to some of those hoity toity types with plenty of cashish.

If the screen cannot be in the right spot, shift the bench. It's not as if we use it anymore.

Get Ralph to get the Bluebirds back for a half time gig.

No, not the Nissan Bluebirds Tommi.

I'm a genius.

It would be absolutely fantastic if you could get someone there to sell bags of peanuts!!!

They have to be an accurate throw!

I know that suggestion is more tongue in cheek than anything, as the father of kids with nut allergies, I wonder what are the legal ramifications of haveing peanuts thrown around the place and then eaten leaving shells, peel and debris lying around. Its a potentially large lawsuit, so I thinks its one idea to leave to the monkeys

:speechless:

What I don't get is, if they throw the peanuts to you in the first place - how do you give them the money? Throw a handful of coins in their direction!?

I just don't get it!

Depends if we have umpires like last week - the footy mightn't be the only thing flying at the TV!

I’m not saying if its possible or not, but in years gone by at Princess Park we used to have a man coming around the boundary with a large sack on his back selling bags of peanuts at halftime I remember that he was a good shot throwing the bags over the fence to his customers and the rumor goes he used to sell adults magazines in some bookshop in the city some were (I thought I throw that in).

Oh, don't worry, He remembered who got the peanuts....would get rid of a bunch....walk back through the crowd collecting the $$....get another bunch (re-appear further around the ground) and so on....
