I know much will be revealed at the press conference but I feel that it's important for posters to know just how difficult it can be to diagnose and then treat neck injuries. It is perfectly normal for several eminent specialists in the area of neck and spinal injury to have different opinions - even if they look at the same scans or other diagnostic imaging results. After more than thirty years of treating people with long-standing pain who have either had unnecessary surgery or surgery which was too late I think we should all take the news about Nick as best we can given Privacy and Medical Confidentiality concerns. Having treated many of the Blues players and others in the late 70's and early 80's I know how difficult this whole process can be. Nick's long-term health must be the dominant factor to be considered and not the health or success of our much loved Blues
Well said acudoc. As passionate Blues supporters, I think we cannot help ourselves but want Stevo to be well just so he can play (as we all agree that he is in great form, and it would be a shame that he cannot apply that form to our side) sooner rather than later. Or if the worse case scenario occurs, it will be devastating if he had to retire prematurely.
However, having said that, we really should overlook that and hope that his health is in tip top shape for his own personal well being and quality of life. Even if that means he will not have the same abilities as he did before this injury. It will be pretty sad, but Stevo, I genuinely hope that your injury will be well taken care of. Even if it means you don't play again (worse case scenario). Go Stevo!!!
