Previous record would have been 44 points surely. What game was that again :)

PS - how come having more posts pushes me from being Marc Murphy to Luke Backwell - how does that work?

We should make our own with Fev taking the mark over Fletcher on the cover!

That would be okay, but let's not do what Essendon* also did: put out a framed and signed-by-all-the-players limited edition jumper. I know some people who purchased those things, and a few weeks later I was asking if the excuse for losing the next two games (one to us) was because the players all had writer's cramp.

It was the probably the best I have seen the Blues play in about 5 years. For about 30 minutes there it looked like Essendon* barely touched the ball...

I seem to remember a huge comeback at Princes Park against Geelong?

Blue Bird how could I forget this one.

This was the day my daughter was born June 23rd 1990 we played Geelong at Princes Park and I am sure we were up to 48 points down during the second quarter.

Silvagni went to Full Forward in the second half and kicked 8 goals.

I wasnt there of course - however I did have an ear to the radio up until 3/4 time - then I was rudely interuppted by the appearance of my daughter at 4.55pm. :P

I have a sneaking feeling we may have even got further back than 48points however I am sure Jarusa can enlighten us.

I reckon we were only 36 points down in that one.

Was one of the best matches I've ever been too. Princes Park was rockin'.

Are you sure about this AGRO?

SOS kicked 10 against Fitzroy once, and 8 against Hawthorn and West Coast in 92, but I'm sure they were the only times he kicked more than 6 really.

I was kinda busy that day  - but I am pretty sure, but as you know I am always willing to be corrected.

SOS' book has a table summarising every game he played, but the 10 against Fitzroy and the two games of 8 sounds right from memory. I can't for the life of me remember the Geelong game though.

Sorry AGRO, straight from the Blueseum...

http://www.blueseum.org/cfc/tiki-index. ... 13%2C+1990

Quote:
Carlton 2.3 15 4.6 30 13.12 90 18.15 123
Geelong 3.7 25 9.17 71 10.23 83 13.26 104
Venue: Princes Park Date: June 23, 1990
Result: Win by 19 points Umpires: B.Carland, D.Rich Crowd: 29,248
Goalkickers: S.Kernahan 6, P.Sartori 4, J.Buckley 3, S.Silvagni 2, G.Hawker, I.Herman, A.Bassett

Best:
Reports: Nil Injuries: R.Dennis (medial ligament), W.Johnston (jarred knee)

Quote:
At the break, Jezza swung Kernahan to FF & SOS to CHF. We were kicking to the Lygon St end in the 3rd term. Silvagni got the ball rolling with a beautiful smother on the members' wing which seemed to lift the crowd, and the team. Kernahan went berserk, kicking 4 for the term. SOS kicked a long bomb that stayed in the air forever & had the crowd around me pleading "Drift! Drift! Drift!". Robbo's call of that goal is also memorable.

I do remember SOS having a huge impact against Geelong and Melbourne that year being moved to CHF after half-time, but I think it was more to do with allowing Sticks to play FF than actually kicking bags himself.

It was. Lynch was having a field day at the other end for Fitzroy and it was almost like a game to see which coach would crack first and move their star to Full-Back.

SOS went off that day for a brief period with a shoulder injury and still managed to kick 10

:-D

My memory fails me often, but the figure of six goals sticks in my head.

Maybe it was six goals that SOS kicked, and, now that I think about, we may have been down by 42 points?

Blueseum should be able to answer this one.

I always post from memory. But I am positive my daughter was born on this day. :P

Although the margin has us 41 points down at 1/2 time - I am positive it got out to longer than this during the second quarter.
