I don't think I'm fair weathered I just found the game boring.

You are fair weathered by any interpretation. People who leave early when we are being hammered make me puke. How can you genuinely enjoy the wins when you have shirked on the defeats? It is when we are being flogged that I look for the players who stand up against real adversity, not the front runners who love to lead. Peter Motley in the 1986 GF comes to mind. To say you found the game boring is a joke. How boring would it have been if we had won by 13 goals? Would you have left early?

Aren't we all better supporters than each other? As the centre of our own particular universe, that automatically makes us better than anyone else who is merely peripheral to our own individual universes.

No don't be silly! Thylacine is the ultimate Carlton supporter, while fair weather fans like myself leave early to drown our sorrows he stays till the very end, cheers them off the ground and then proceeds to drive straight home and take his frustrations out on his Lance blow up doll.

Not realising you loathe yourself more than anyone else could possibly ever do is merely ignorance. Once you work that out, and that nobody is a better supporter than you, only then can you be happy.

Either way, Thylacine is the best Carlton support in his particular universe, and you are the best Carlton supporter in yours. Conflict occurs when your universes cross paths. 8)

I got a warning (albeit removed once I explained myself) for saying that a while ago.

Not really to sure how you could 'define' that one supporter would/should be better than the next... Is someone that forks out heaps of money for the club over the past 4-5 years any "better" than someone that may have had a membership for 50+ years?

I can only relate to my own experience at the football - originally I hated the game and enjoyed sitting at home on a weekend when I was growing up. One day my parents practically dragged me to Princes Park, Round 3, 1993 - Carlton v Hawthorn.

It was the first real game that I paid attention to and I actually started to enjoy it and my passion for Carlton was "born". I have had a membership every year since and have enjoyed every minute of it. Whether it be a win, loss and on the rare occasion - a draw.

Sure, I have missed a few games over the years... but over 14 years I have been lucky to miss 1-2 games each year in Melbourne.

The past few seasons have opened my eyes, it's not just about winning to me... I enjoy the week leading up to the game and if we win - it's a bonus, but it's not the end of the world if we happen to lose. I know that there will be 'blue skies' ahead... it will come.

There is plenty more I want to mention, but we all have a passion and drive for our club that we support. However over the past few days it has amazed me how many people on here seem to think it is the end of the world after only 2 weeks.

Some people here are probably sick of losing and picking up the spoon... and rightfully so, finishing last always leaves a bitter taste. But at times perhaps take a step back, a deep breath and think... could you do a better job out there as the coach / player / trainer / board member?

This is only my opinion - but for those that call themselves 'supporters' and leave the game early when we are far behind on the score board or happen to leave when we are guaranteed a win - you should be ashamed of yourselves.

It is times like these, when the club needs every SINGLE supporter that we should show exactly that - support - and ride the rollercoaster that will be the 2007 season and beyond. I know I'm strapped in for the ride and I won't be going anywhere!

See you on Saturday afternoon at the G.

maybe not fair weather.... but i find you find out the most about players when the game is hot and high intensity and also the opposite (Saturday night)

who keeps on chasing, tackles hard & shows good body language on the field.

At risk of being abused I think that if you always want Carlton to win and never deep down want us to lose then you are a good supporter, in other words if you are pro-tanking you are a bad supporter. Yep, that's right, if you want us to only win 3-4 games this year you are not supporting the club, the players or our history. If you use this as a security blanket ie. 'at least we'll get good draft picks' after a flogging that's different.

I'd also like to say that if you are so blinded by the love of your club that you can't recognise when we are shit-house then you are not a super-dooper supporter like you think you are, sometimes you have to be honest with yourself - you don't have to love every single player in our team to be a good supporter, after all, we have loved the club alot longer then most of the players, I mean - did anyone actually like Tim Powell?

Agreed.. not once in the last 5 years have I wanted us to tank...Also, being so one eyed as to not see the truth about your Club makes you...well... a Collingwood supporter :P
