Dwayne and that other tosser Tony Jones must have discussed the game overnight - both mentioned that "the blues bubble had burst in a massive way"

Scott Cummings and Willo (Who? :? ) were pretty piss poor and I had to turn them off because you would have thought we had won another spoon.

3AW is football. :garthp:

I was at the game and started off listening to Russel on 3AW. Pretty unbearable. I lasted about 15 minutes.

I often think supporters exagerate when criticising media for favouring or hating teams, but i must agree it doesn seem like Russel can not hide his hatred of the Blues.

I tuned into 3AW last Sat night and lasted about a quarter. I have been saying this about Dwayne Russell for about 4 or 5 years now so I am glad this thread has come up because I thought it was just me imagining things. This wanker has a contempt for our club that goes beyond belief.
Just to let you know what sort of a human being he is he actually stated last Saturday night that football came first in his life and his family came second. What a tool.
He also was having a good laugh about Lance Whitnall's form and said that during the week this would be the main topic. Whether to drop him the Magoos or not?
I have never heard this moron actually say one good thing about Carlton. Not one thing. Amazing. Even when Pratt took over in the next show he hosted he concentrated on the boys night out in Ballarat and the fact that the Carlton captain is a dill for not having a wrist watch.
When we won the NAB Cup there was no mention of the game on the Monday show. Amazing once again. I also remember leading into the NAB Grand Final a Brisbane Lions fan called in and stated that he thought they would win the game and Russell I quote said " I hope you're right because there is nothing better than having a strong presence up North".

The man is just a complete bitter fool who will get what he deserves one day.

Anyway the best thing to do is to switch off. If you do want to listen to 3AW though be prepared for some Lance bashing straight up by Dwayne Russell. Tune in and you will hear for yourself.

I agree - since DR started at 3AW the sports programme has gone down the hill and his Carlton bashing is sickening.

I would suggest to email the station and complain. They do not like a lot of unhappy listeners writing to them. This would be far more effective then a couple of hundred Carlton supporters turning off.

They should get Hooksey back. He was great.

Even now he has more intelligent comments to offer.

As some on here may know from my defence of Caro, I try and remain objective when it comes to media coverage of football. But AW's coverage on Saturday night was disgraceful.

Led by Dwayne, his band of merry men just followed suit, from Hutchy (who IIRC is a Geelong supporter) and Cummings and Williams, newbees in the special comments game and clearly not strong enough to go their own way and stay objective.

Trouble was, I couldn't get decent reception on MMM at the ground, but even still, after 1/4 time, I switched over and listened to a dodgy MMM reception, rather than have to put up with that tripe.

Russell is and always was a tool, but really he should reserve his contempt and hatred for Carlton to Michael Sexton and Peter Dean because they were the 2 Carlton Defenders that Russell was never able to get a kick on. 8)

It's pretty simple - listen to SEN.

Except for Francis "I want to be around footy players" Leach, their presenters are better and their shows are well thought out theme-wise. Brownless is tiresome but I don't listen to the morning show. Beva after Dark is sensational as is their gameday coverage - they go longer and start earlier.

I have ditched AW totally and the quicker we all do, the quicker the ratings will reflect what an arrogant, had it their own way too long pack of has-beens they are. Rex Hunt? He is only listened to by nuff nuffs and losers with no strength to change. He has somehow convinced many of his lonely alcoholic listeners that he cares about them. Watch him care when his income is affected.

One problem with that Thylacine (are you really extinct??)...

We weren't on SEN on the weekend. It was a choice of Dwayne or the boys-own-club on MMM. I think this will be the story for the next 3 years, we will either have a choice between AW and MMM, or SEN and ABC, due to the category A and B rights.

As for AW, most of their people I like...Grybas is up there with Tim Lane as the two best radio commentators going around, Walls, Shaw (yep, I'm a fan, calls it as it is and is generally positive), Healy...it's just that Dawyne's become a tool and Rex is just an idiot.

By the way, if you want the best calling team, listen to the ABC on Friday night...Lane, Dan Lonergan (getting better and better), Parkin and Schwab.

Fair point and I guess I was comparing stations generally. I just think the presenters are a breath of fresh air on SEN. Mark Allen, Finey (you want the truth he'll provide) Beva, Pickers, Rich, KB etc.

Harford is a pretender and Doran a dull dork but generally after a couple of decades of putting up with AW as the only commercial AM option I've had it. I used to listen to Harry Bietzel and Ian Major calling for AW with my dad out in the backyard in the seventies and eighties. We also had Jack Dyer, Bill Jacobs and Smokey Dawson to choose from back then. They called the footy and kept their allegiances and biases to themselves.

Yes, ABC Friday nights are grouse. Listening to Dan trying to stay impartial whilst his dogs go round is priceless. Tim Lane has a sense of occasion second to none. The MMM team are almost unlistenable.

And no, I'm not extinct yet. but another performance like Satty night and I will be.
