You look at Essendon*.. drafting for the future and being bold enough to play light skilled fast kids like Davey and Jetta..
Port with kids like Krakouer and we have a slug like Lance parked on the ground because we made him captain...

Jimmae, I read it differently to you. Coaches have to be guarded, but I think in this quote below Thompson was honest. It was an easy day in the office for Thompson, and it was so easy that he can basically called Carlton soft.

In my opinion, he has no respect for this club and the players. It is plain to see. Wher is the respect that this club once had? It has evaporated.

Exactly. 100% correct.

The Geelong team as a whole showed complete disdain for Carlton last night. Breaking tackles at will, running off opponents to the extent of basicly showing zero repect for them, using them as step-ladders. There are a couple of first gamers down at Geelong who'd be thinking this whole AFL thing is a lark after playing against Carlton first up.

Disappointing.

What is disappointing is that people think we now have enough quality "first gamers" on our list for us to seriously challenge.

We have a chance to add 2 more quality first rounders at the end of this season.

It is too much seeing Carlton's record pummelled through the mud year after year.

Why are Essendon* showing improvement then? They were as bad as us last year.

Because they are playing the kids and rewarding strong performances.

The only new player we have been "brave" enough to put in our team is Bryce Gibbs. Sorry, the aim of Pagan and his goons is to protect the youngsters from the rigours of footy. Essendon* are willing to play theirs though.

Hampson, Hartlett etc - let's give em a go -even if it is just as bench players.

I think that when you play the kids you do need to tell them that you will back them 100%; that if they have a bad game that they will get another chance. If you don't then they will stay in their shells and we would never see the best of them. Maybe Pagan has said to Lance, you've got 3 or 5 weeks to get yourself right, if you don't get form by that time you're going to sit some games out. Just a theory

I may be wrong, but I think Pagan has his favourites... his favourites are Lance and Wiggins.

Neither player can be dropped.

Lappin isn't a favourite. He is likely to be dropped.

That type of stuff happens in all footy clubs - but I hope Pagan can take his blinkers off and know that he is making selections that have an effect on the morale of this group.

I commend him for leading the Blues through a strong pre-season campaign. (Thank god Brisbane beat Geelong in their pre-season semi)

but... and it is a big but... the time is now for courageous decisions..
