Agree - no tools - but some players were / are clearly better at interacting with fans then others. The one player I met I thought was somewhat aloof and a bit arrogant was SOS......

..no way.. ..a few yrs ago i bumped into SoS at a bar, and it was say half full.. ..i myself, was very very juiced up.. ..i screamed his name from across the bar and musta scared the bejesus outta him.. ..anyways i chatted to him for about 5 mins..quite possibly a very painful 5 mins for him..heh.. ..but he was super cool in the face of my drunken adoration.. ..all class..

My brother and I had a chat to him for about 10mins in his pub once. Lovely bloke!

I'll tell you who is the nicest player i have dealt with.

Peter Dean. He is an absolute gentleman, i have honestly never met a nicer bloke in my life.

He came into my work a couple of years ago wanting some items and i took him through our range and he chose the ones i recomemned without fuss and was a complete gentleman.

10/10

Biggest tool IMO Luke Livingston
Friendliest player I have met Kouta, this was back a few years ago and he was very polite and honest, two outstanding qualities from a guy who is a genuine superstar.

Agreed....met him at the checkout of our local supermarket a couple of years ago and he went out of his way to have a chat and give some opinions on where we were at.....talked like he played..with great passion.

Another was Nathan Burke of Stkilda....nice guy on the field and equally pleasant off the track......

I wont knock any of our players past or present as I dont think it is appropriate but the worst AFL player I have come across personally is Shane Crawford.......if he was an icy pole he would lick himself to death....

Livo was the friendliest bloke i met at the 2002 family day. A real genuine bloke.

SOS is extremely arrogant. Unless you have a short skirt on (and your female ) he will have no time for you.

There are a few stories I could tell but won't because a lot of you would be very shocked but some of you wouldn't be surprised. He really enjoys tours to Ireland far too much at the end of the season.

Peter Dean likes having a chat about football more than anyone.

dont get me wrong, im usually the last bloke to turn on our own....but Prenda was a real dissappointment.

Nic

Prenda was a bloody elevated as a Rooky. How much can you expect from him. He worked super hard but just wasn't as gifted as guys like Murph. Hence you cant claim him as a disapointment or a TOOL. He doesn't belong in this thread.

everyone is right on the mark about prender. came into my work a couple times and was always willing to chew the fat about the blues. a nicer guy and a better clubman youd be hard pressed to find. hes very unlucky to be mentioned in this thread.

That probably was the problem, I want my full back to be a mongrel not a SNAG. Top draft pick for no bloody return makes him a tool (O.K major, major dissappointment) for me

Wasn't looking for your thoughts on them as a player. Was moreso interested in who you've come across to be a real disapointment in terms of a human being, whether through arrogance, rudeness, etc.

Livo and Prenda certainly never fit that criteria for mine. Great blokes who I still wish were associated with the club in some capacity.

I wouldn't normally condone this sort of thread, but this particular player, just prior to joining Carlton, when I had a go at him for pushing in front of me at a department store, responded (in all seriousness) with: "don't you know who I am?"...ah yes, what a cliched line, particularly coming from Mick Martyn.

Incidentally, I also received the same response after a similar incident in a supermarket from Matthew Knights.

Any footballer found guilty of using this particular line is a tool of the highest order.

I'm suprised you actually understood what came out of Mick's mouth.

He actually said "Sorry Mate, I'm in a bit of a rush, hope you don't mind". It sounded like "Don't you know who I am?"

My best buddy tells everyone who will listen the story of how at Age 8 or 9, after a game at Princes Park, the young Blue fan ran up to Mark Maclure and asked for an autograph. Doully was next to Maclure but he wanted Maclure.

Maclure threw the signature book to the ground in disgust, Doully picked it up and handed it back to the kid.

He stopped going to games with his Dad and years later switched to Hawthorn.
