Blues boost recruiting

Another step in the restoration of Carlton was taken yesterday when the Blues bolstered their recruiting department with the appointment of Shane Rogers, formerly of Fremantle. In the brief time of the presidency of billionaire Richard Pratt, the Blues have lured Greg Swann from Collingwood to serve as chief executive, recruited Stephen Icke from Fremantle to oversee the football department and now added Rogers to the team of recruiting manager Wayne Hughes. "There are areas of our operation that we are keen to put resources and a lot of focus into and recruiting is one of those," Icke said last night of Rogers' appointment.

Brilliant news for the Blues. A great coup for WH.

Shane is without doubt one of the nicest and most sincere gents I have met in my time following the TAC.

He is held in extremely high regard by all his peers and his work ethic is up with the very best. His career has seen him work at the Doggies, Collingwood and Freo.

CFC recruiting is in very experienced and knowledgeable hands with WH and SR steering the selection process.

Regards Cazzesman

Now 2 full time, 6 part-time (that I know) plus other assorted spotters around the traps in the major country areas and northern States.

CM,

Not really sure. I know they have 2 full time also I think they might have 1 or 2 x 4 day a week guys (as against the 2 day/weekend warriors that most have). The rest I would only be guessing.

It quality not quantity

can't believe what is happening to my footy club this is incredible.
i don't think any other person in the history of this game has turned around a footy club as quickly as pratt has with the blues.
no wonder he is a multi billion aire. the guy is an absolute master.. elliot was pretty agressive, but pratt is just unbelievably smoothe almost he is not even there...incredible operator.

I guess you could say he's a smooth operator then...

He's laughing with another girl
And playing with another heart
Placing high stakes, making hearts ache
He's loved in seven languages
Jewel box life diamond nights and ruby lights, high in the sky
Heaven help him, when he falls
Diamond life, lover boy
He move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy
City lights and business nights
When you require streetcar desire for higher heights

No place for beginners or sensitive hearts
When sentiment is left to chance
No place to be ending but somewhere to start

No need to ask
He's a smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator

Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale

Face to face, each classic case
We shadow box and double cross
Yet need the chase

A license to love, insurance to hold
Melts all your memories and change into gold
His eyes are like angels but his heart is cold

No need to ask
He's a smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator

Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male
Across the north and south, to Key Largo, love for sale

Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator
Smooth operator, smooth operator

Great News.
Recruitment is the bloodline into the future.

It's fantastic news for our recruitment department but I have to wonder how we're going to pay for all of this. I know Pratt is a billionaire but we aren't living off his money. I hope Swann has a plan for us to be self sustaining within the next two years to cover all these new costs.

Sometimes you are such a negative person.

Do you think Swann is an administrative fool? Behind the Swann coup this is one of the biggest coups in recruiting. Be thankful and let Swann worry about the bottom line.

Mark H told us the other day the board reached its target of raising an additional $1,000,000+ in sponsorship (not including the Raheen fundraiser). That'll help pay for it all in the short term. In the long term it is up to Swann to make this club profitable.

I started a poll a couple of weeks ago on who was the most important recruit since last season. The above is a key reason why Swann is right up there. Pratt has brought the money and the people, Swann will be putting it all together. He played a key role in Collingwoods resurgance, he'll play a key role in ours :)
