More seriously though, if Pagan takes Carlton to the finals in 2007 even if teams 9 to 12 all suffer horrific injuries, and teams 13 to 16 are all coached by Dean Laidley people will be very happy and he will escape scrutiny. Its all about winning when it matters and now is when it matters.

Success can not be obtained unless both on-field and off the field the club is strong. Pagan has had neither of these sides in a strong position since he arrived. Now we are getting somewhere off field. Swann, Icke and best of all Pratt. We are now in strong position there.

We are also the strongest on the park we have been in many years. The kids are really coming on strong. For me, both on the park and off it, we are now strong. For the first time since probably the late 90s. This is when Pagan will have his chance to succeed.

Our playing roster was terrible when Pagan started. This is not his fault. He then didn't have the immediate resources to fix it, because of the draft penalties. And because of our off field position he was forced into stop-gap measures, ie. the recycled players. That measure saved our club a lot of embarrassment at the time. Then we finally got back into the draft, where in my opinion we have had great success since.

Things are now coming together, and i believe that Pagan now can begin to coach a successful team again. Not sacrifice his coaching record in order to keep a financially struggling club afloat. And try and get wins out of players which clearly aren't capable of producing them. Now we see what Denis is made out of, and believe that it is the right stuff.

It is also on record that Pagan believed the list was capable of making the eight!

One person misjudged the situation badly and it wasnt Collo.

Hmmm ... seems I was on the mark when I suggested that the Board might have tried to reposition itself after we crashed in 2005:

Thats not how it happpened... they worked on it together... BUT... they had to play mature bodies for the Denis Pagan crash bang game plan.

Pagan can say anything he likes now...but he still has to deliver something...not wins .....................but true development...
