is she trying to say that he is just a figurehead and not making any decisions? I would say that this is far from the truth

Goes to show she knows sweet f*ck all about whats going on around the Club.. her sneaky leaker aint around anymore to spoon feed her info.

as Milli Vanilli sang 'Blame it on Lorraine'

or there was that old classic 'I can see clearly now Lorraine has gone'

Agree completely Jack. The Whitnall story was in the top two news items on both 7 and 9 last night.

Yes, Wilson does write a lot about off-field stuff, and a lot of it is identifying the negatives. But she is hardly alone in that...the Australian media over the last few years has become disturbingly sensationalist. Just look at the political debate going on recently, hardly a policy debate, but loads of 'off-field' blah blah...who's been having lunch with who...

Wilson has picked on Calrton alot over the years, but there has been a lot to pick on, and almost all of what she has written has been right. We need to be careful not to become precious about it. Why is it okay for us to bag the goings on at Carlton on here, but it's not ok for Wilson to write about it in the press? That is her job, she's paid to do it.

Once we have got out own house in order, and that's not far off, there will be nothing more negative to write about, and she'll have to find someone else to highlight the negatives about.

The ball is in our own court.

Obviously there has been plenty to write about in respect to CFC over the last couple of years but if you dont think some journalists dont have 'pet' subjects or agendas then I think youre mistaken. She has said some , to use one of her favourite words, 'dreadful', things about CFC. People say shes always on the money but frankly if you have a board member leaking confidential stuff to you left right and centre youd have to be a complete idiot not to'be on the money'. I just personally think she has an anti-carlton agenda

Carlton is getting its act together, big time, and very quickly , from all reports. I'd say that this was significant given we were reported to be rabble, basket case, unfixable, etc, etc. Getting Pratt and then Swann were absolute coups. I think the Swann situation was played brilliantly. Most people thought Cook was the target. Credit where credits due.

And to think people wanted us to close down the joint and hand the keys over to the AFL
Just look over there in the distance, a great Navy Blue storm is forming and when it rains it'll p*ss down all over the other 15 clubs

Agree with that completely Anfield (and even Wilson admites in her article today that Carlton "landed the off-field coup of the seasonby poaching Greg Swann from Collingwood").

My point is that what Wilson writes is generally on the money, regardless of which club or player it's about. She, like a lot of the rest of the media in this country, loves to focus on the sensationalist story, which are almost always 'negative' stories. The media goes crazy on stories of drugs in sport, depression, gambling, family fights, children overboard, lunching with dodgy businessmen, rock stars affairs...

So, she will find the sensationalist story, and she will write about it. There has been of negatives to write about at Carlton over the last 5 years, so we are fair game. As the Club has been fair game for supporters on this website.

When we getour own house in order, she will stop writing about us. Instead, she will go back to writing about the mother of a player who had a $5 bet.

..lookit, caro's dog ugly and chases the easy stories.. ..lets just say that who-ever employed her musta been hugely desperate.. ..or perhaps she gives the blowies of the century.. ..either way she's not about to win the journalistic annual award in any hurry.. ..unless she blows the judges.. ..it's just our own incompetence that allows for her incompetence to look like talent.. ..once we clean our own backyard we should be ok.. ..now, if only our players get their shite together like our board is starting to, then we'll be heading completely in the right direction.. ..the big red i dig on field, but off field he's really beginning to dissappoint.. ..he ought to have disclosed all this crap before accepting the captaincy, if it was still on the table once the club was fully clued in.. ..a captain puts the intrests of the club first..i'm not sure whitts has in this case..a pity..

An old mate oif mine used to say "You don't have to look at the mantlepiece whilst you're stoking the fire".

In the Scags instance, you would actually be stoking the mantlepiece; so I don't see the problem. 8)

If she's right, and Lance did not alert the club, its appalling. Post fact handling has been extremely orinary. cannot lay that at the feet of Icke or Swan, they've only been there 8 seconds.

Unfortunately, I agree with Synbad, he was never the right choice from a playing perspective. This just shows he wasn't right from a non-playing perspective.

It also shows how dysfunctional our club was. Lance would never be captain under this regime.

Caro's right. He owes us a big game on Sunday.

Guys, give him a chance, the season hasn't even started yet. Lance's problems are only minor and will be over once round one is done and dusted, caro will then have to write about football and leave Lance and his family to sort it out without making back page news. The challange for Lance is to block out the off field drama, focus on the footy and have a significant input to the game
