Quite shocked at this overt and unecessary footnote. He has outed himself. Fool. His bias, which of course had always been obvious, is now plain.

I propose that as a consequence, Jones now be targeted by TC members, with a view to destroying his credibility (if he had any at all) as a journalist. True journalism requires objectivity and reporting, not editorialising.

This statement must be taken a s a declaration of war!

I wouldn't worry too much. Our off-field problems are slowly disappearing, due to the big appointment of Pratt, followed by Icke and now Swann. Add to this the Nab cup win which has led to a continuing growth of memberships for season 2007, as well as financial growth ($250,000 prize money).
We also are improving on-field with our growing number of young stars, and
our coaching department with the additions of Crosisca, Ratten and Bradley has also made an impact on our youth.
We will let our actions on the field in Round 7 against Collingwood speak for themselves, when we beat them, and Fev kicks 10.
***P.S. Swan could see that our future looks brighter with our young talent, in comparison to Collingwood's on field talent.

Calling Tony Jones a journalist is a huge insult to the journalism profession IMO.

Just imagine how livid the Pies will be when we spank them by 8 goals in Round 7...

I think it's fair to say that in this particular instance Jones wasn't aiming for this 'true journalism' you're talking about.

In fact, I think it's good that he stated he was a Pies fan and wrote it from that perspective. This is fairly mundane story if you look at it as just someone from one club moving to another club's football department. That it is a Collingwood to Carlton move is the really interesting bit. Jones is able to personify the emotions and agitations and I think that's just as worthy and productive.

Having said that, hopefully another Eddie vs. Collingwood special coming up!
