I wouldn't be surprised if this was done with Eddies cooperation and blessing. Collingwood are in a strong enough position that Swann's talents aren't fully utilised.

Just like Pratt consulted Frank Costa re: Brian Cook I'm not sure Pratt would have gone behind Eddi'es back to recruit Swann.

Say what you want about Eddie, his priority and love for Collingwood certainly rests first, but I think he believes in a strong competion and strong opposition....even the hated enemy.

I would suggest this could be the case.

Pratt's son-in-law, Alex Waislitz, is on the Collingwood board. Makes for interesting family dinners.

Is this the same Greg Swann who played for Williamstown? The same Greg Swann who tried out at the Blues but couldn't crack it on the list given our strong mosquito fleet of the late 70's early 80's?

If not ignore.

Agreed no complaints luring Walsh from the Roos, Malthouse from the Eagles & Bryan from Carlton

Yes.

Pratt coup as Pie chief becomes a Blue
Quote:
McGuire said Collingwood was disappointed but said it would cause "barely a ripple" at the Magpies.

"We have three executives in Eugene Arocca, Geoff Walsh and David Emerson who could all step into the job," McGuire said. "Eugene will act in the position for now while we decide which way we will head. It will cause barely a ripple because of the work we put in to plan for the future."

Asked his view of Swann's departure, McGuire replied tersely: "Swanny made a significant contribution to the club, but he is a Carlton person now. I don't comment on Carlton people. I speak for Collingwood."

Yet they're upset that he's gone.

Now we just need to get Barb into a Collingwood guernsey and get her to hang outside Flinders Street Station rattling a tin for "poor old Collingwood !" :-D

After this coup I would love to see that and then ask Tony Jones down to cover it for National Nine News.

Extremely gutsy decision by Swann.
He's setting himself up for a lot of flak however someone who wont shy away from the hard decisions is just what we need.

Seeing people like Tony Jones and Eddie having a big sook is just an added bonus.

Not really a risk for him mate, he has the knowhow to make it happen, and pretty much a bottomless pit of money to draw from. That coupled with a 3 year deal, and I am sure it is an exciting opportunity for him.

He will do a good job, make no mistake about that, a great day for the club!!!

Alright, so which one of us is Plenty O'toole

That is the funniest thread I have ever read on any forum - classic.

I'm loving watching the other fifteen clubs collectively shitting themselves now we're back on track.

YOUR TIME IN THE SUN WITH CARLTON BEING A RABBLE IS WELL AND TRULY OVER ARSEHOLES

Good enough for me too, I reckon he seems like a right flower of a bloke.

Greg Swann will be very good for Carlton - the difference between what you have and who he has replaced could be measured in hectares and not just acres.

In its on right, the collective skill of the Carlton admin has grown enormously over night.

I still wish him ill-will, though.

Just like I'm waiting for the "Tarrant: I'm Drug F...ed" headline with much anticipation...

Now that Ron Evans is gone a proper investigation into the Scums salary cap shenanigans happens, and they get fisted as badly as we did.
