re Mark Majerczak:

"Mark also played Little League Football for Carlton (in 1980) those were the days when each club ran their own Little League Squads - at this time the Carlton Squad was coached/managed by Keith Duggan, who had an uncanny resemblance to Australian entertainer Rolf Harris."

It was actually 1979 - I wore no. 1 and he wore the big 25 of Jezza cos he was captain.

Just thought I'd point that out!

Sorry that was me - my brother played with him in the same squad and I trusted my memory on that one.

But Keith Duggan did look like Rolf Harris. :P

Now fixed.

Carlton 2012: Lets remind them why they once feared the Dark.

Actually speaking of stuff-ups, now is as good a time as any.

The Blueseum did not win the NetGuide Best Sports Site in Australia award. :(

Foxsports got the gong.

Thanks to everyone who voted for the site and showed support. We will give it a go again next year. :-D

My brother only played 1 or 2 games that season (he was bottom age only 8 or 9).

1979 was the last season when each club ran their own squads of Little League Teams, so under that scenario kids like Mark Majerzack would play 15 to 22 games of Little League per season.

From 1980 onwards it was run under the auspice of Vickick which then became Auskick.

Under that scenario a primary school from a League sides zone was chosen to represent the League side - this gave more kids the opportunity to play games, but they would only ever play that 1 game as their was (and is) a different school each week.

My brother actually got chosen to play for Fitzroy Little League side in 1981 and was then selected to represent them in the Finals - where they actually won the Grand Final of the Little League in 1981 - he played with Steven Paxman who was the only player from that group to go on to play AFL football.

I myself on the other hand to quote Graham Kennedy from that immortal football movie "The Club" was "struggling to hold my place in the school thirds".

:( indeed. It was a damn good effort to get nominated though, I'll agree.

Ah well, after we hit 17 premierships in September we'll shit it in next year! :-D
