Just wondering for those who do not want Pagan as coach what it would take for you to change your mind

Please don't make this into a why he should not be coach thread as there have been plenty of those already

From my point of view if the team performs well enough to finish 12th or higher this year, there are no 100 point thrashings and the Pagen - Mitchell saga is fixed then I have no worries about him continuing to coach us as I dont believe he has ever had the cattle to make the club competitive

nice post...it's nice to see im not alone in thinking that Pagan's not doing that bad of a job...Pagan's contract ends when exactly by the way?....i feel that he deserves to see out that contract, THEN we can see where we go. i feel that re-hiring Pagan was the right idea, as i dont see Mitchell as being the right guy for a senior role...i just feel that everyone around pagan hasn't allowed for him to look as good as possible...for example last year i saw Libba telling Brendan Fevola at 3qtr time against the Cats what to do, now as phenomenal as Libba was, and i think he'll make a good senior coach also, he's in no position to be a forwardline coach.

i think we have a good batch of assistant coaches at the club now, and i think that until Pagan's contract is expired, we sit on our hands and wait, then we can assess where we're at....It's not like we have an ageing list like StKilda where our premiership window is nearly closed and we quickly need a change in direction to possibly go further, our window isnt even open yet...we have a young list who would have a load of respect for Pagan, and he'd have their support...so for the time being he's the right man for the job i think.

I don't want to get thrashed more then twice this year, so if we are to lose I want us to be competitive. I think rather then number of wins I want to see the style of football that he will have us playing this year. If is negative crap that prevents our players from developing then see ya later Dennis.

If we start off terribly ie. 1 win in first 6 rounds and very bad losses I would endorse him getting the arse mid/early season.

The best legacy Pagan can leave us as he departs at the end of this season is with another 4 win 18 loss scenario.

The legacy being another 2 picks in the top 4 of the National Draft.

Now that would be a great legacy - and something that will lay the foundations for the next 10 years.

1. Win the day premiership
2. Propose a viable peace plan for the Middle East
3. Eradicate malaria
4. Replenish the thompson dam and
5. Get 2 and a half men axed

seriously though, I think 8-10 wins would be a very good result in 2007, anything more is a bonus.

Pagan's future is in the hands of the Board and the players...all will be revealed in due course.

As long as the blokes keep on playing with the entusiasm they're showing, wins and the coach doesn't bother me... for now. Cotchin and Kruezer would be nice but I'm not sure if it's ultimately in the best interests of the club to go the 3peat with the spoon.

From a distance it seems the players are now playing for their coach, it seems there is a genuine joy for them to be at the club, and I believe this is solely due to Elshaug's departure.

I believe this to be the greatest turning point in the Pagan career at Carlton, and "the positive" the squad could ask for.

The ability to show he can transform into a modern day coach by delegating training drills and scenarios to his assistant coaches. I worry about Pagan, but I must admit that the summer training reports have encouraged me that he is at least on the right path.

Otherwise, I think he needs 6-7 wins, and for the team to play some well structured football.

Ahh, another thread for an open Pagan bashing...

8-10 wins, a ladder position of 8-11th and no shellackings... I've always been behind Pagan and have always backed him up until now - but he always said that this was the year for things to happen... *i.e the '5th' year*... so let's see how he goes...

Did anybody hear Pratt mention on the Footy Show the other night that

'Pagan is the nest coach... in the league'

...or words to that effect?!

Oh, and Teen Spirit, you are definitely not alone in thinking Pagan is ok - there are plenty of like-minded people on this site... they just don't post much.

Maybe but can we afford a losing culture to continue? Do we want more players like Thornton, Russell (& Campo) to want fresh starts at other clubs?
