I'm the new kid on the block round here, but I thought it was "We are the old dark navy blues"?
Please correct me for when I need to sing it tonight

It is old dark navy blues.

Bondi is using a play on words that highlights our youth.

Sing it loud Kiwi! Don't forget the "bup bedup beduh" bit at the start :-D

Ha - I thought that might be the case? Although I wouldn't like to see the team out there in baby blue jersies, jumpers, guernseys (take your pick - I'm still confused). Would seem a little too metro for me.....

Thanks for the heads up

As much as I hate to say it, I think we will end up in the "purgatory" position this year i.e. no blue chip draft selections and missing out on the finals. 2008 and beyond should be an exciting time for us.

Hopefully this years draft has plenty of quality mids as we seem to have all the other areas covered (assuming Aisake and Hampson come on as ruckman as hoped). IMO teams require at least 8 quality mids to be a title contender.

As we have learned from experience, we must secure picks #45 & #75 in the 2007 draft!

Then we will have a full deck of premiership players.

Got us in 11th, trying to be as optimistic as possible:

2 Adelaide 22 19 3 0 2468 1932 76 127.7
8 W Bulldogs 22 19 3 0 2388 2012 76 118.6
6 St Kilda 22 16 6 0 2420 1980 64 122.2
1 West Coast 22 16 6 0 2413 1987 64 121.4
10 Geelong 22 14 8 0 2248 2152 56 104.4
3 Fremantle 22 13 9 0 2326 2074 52 112.1
4 Sydney 22 13 9 0 2254 2146 52 105.0
7 Melbourne 22 13 9 0 2214 2186 52 101.2

12 Port Adel 22 10 12 0 2210 2190 40 100.9
11 Hawthorn 22 10 12 0 2118 2282 40 92.8
16 Carlton 22 10 12 0 2088 2312 40 90.3
5 Collingwood 22 9 13 0 2108 2292 36 91.9
13 Bris Lions 22 8 14 0 2126 2274 32 93.4
9 Richmond 22 3 19 0 1942 2458 12 79.0
15 Essendon* 22 2 20 0 1950 2450 8 79.5
14 Kangaroos 22 1 21 0 1927 2473 4 77.9

Dogs probably a bit high up on reflection, but the rest looks OK. Except for Essendon* getting a PP

if things work out like i predicted i'll be left a very happy man...Geelong and Port could both finish 8th i think though...

Nic

Agree on our position...my own view is that Collingwood will finish bottom three....will be a tight pack in the bottom eight.
Brisbane with a full team will be hard work at home and will win a few more than most think...Geelong and Port should improve...
Going to predict the Crows will battling to make the eight......lost some goalkickers and will struggle without Riccuito.

I see us in a similar position to what the bulldogs were a few years back when they JUST missed out on the finals!

I'd love to see us in the Finals but i wont be angry if we don't make it. I'm not really going to be dissapointed with any finish really.

Of course, i don't want another wooden spoon!

I guess what i'm saying is that i would prefer, more than end of season ladder position, a total change in the way we played last year. That's the most important thing for me this season.

We're off to a good start!

You guys have too much time on your hands! Rather than talking finals let's concentrate on improving each year. The club needs to look at a 3 to 5 year plan! Trying to achieve success too early (without hard work) got us into this mess. 10th is something to aim for.

3 - 5 year plan !??! Who are you Malouf? Smorgon ? Rose ? we've had a rolling 3 - 5 year plan that has seemed to be going forever now.

Let us have some fun - we've just won 4 games in a row albeit pre season and the club is a better place today than it has been in recent times.

This exercise takes all of 5 minutes - and its just for a bit of amusement - get over yourself.

and what do you mean without hard work? I'm sure all the boys have been working hard as well as the board and the president - they are all working hard - even the coaches are working hard !

If we dont aim for finals and success - then whats the point?

I agree,

ladder position similar to Footscray a couple of years back - just missing the finals.

9th to 11th - from missing just by % to maybe a game and % out of the eight.

I thought everyone played for finals and success, just some sides have greater visions of grandeur than others ..

We're $3.50 to make the 8 at the TAB! If you take their standings, we'll be 14th (the Kangas and Lions are the only others below us) .. I like them odds!

Middle of the road in the bottom eight.

I think another year down there won't hurt. We'll get another good pick to add to our current list. Our current group of kids have already shown enough to suggest we are only 1-2 seasons away from really pushing for finals.

I don't think we are going to end up higher than 3rd, but I guess anything can happen.

IMO this is as high as we could go in 2007:

1. Bulldogs
2. Fremantle
3. Carlton
4. Sydney

5. St Kilda
6. WCE
7. Adelaide
8. Melbourne

9. Geelong
10. Port Adel
11. Richmond
12. Brisbane

13. Hawthorn
14. Collingwood
15. Hawthorn
16. Essendon*

We'd probably be playing in the 2007 GF if the above happened.

I am expecting to kids to tire in the middle period of the season though.

I don't think we should just be proactive with the rotations in the midfield, I think we should be keen to give players a spell for a week here and rotate players through the squad if we are going to get through this season; similar as the principles behind the preservation of Kouta.

Then there's the big key influence as to whether we have a good or bad season and that is "Injuries". I think we have the depth to cover most barring Fevola, Ackland, Cloke, Stevens, Murphy, and Walker (and any 2 of the 3 KP defenders Setanta, Thornton and Waite).

Dick's Blues will play finals in 2007

Personally this year I would prefer 2 picks in the top 4 of the National Draft - opportunities to have a list for the next 10 years of:

Number 1: Marc Murphy
Number 1: Bryce Gibbs
Number 2: Andrew Walker
Number 4: Josh Kennedy
Number 1 to 4: From 2007 National Draft
Number 1 to 4: From 2007 National Draft

dont come around too often - and as I mentioned will set us up for 10 years.

Did someone say anything about a tracked armoured defense/ground strike vehicle designed to engage enemies head-on, using direct fire from a large caliber-gun and supporting fire from machine gun? :P

I picked a generous 13 wins today.

Probably end up somewhere between 6 and 9 wins. Maybe.
