Denis Pagan's coaching throughout the campaign has been just as affective if not more than anyone of our star players in our games. We were able to swing momentum to our favor in all games.

Don't know how much input he had on on player's roles this year, which has't missed a beat. Russell as a tagger - tick, Waite down back - tick, Setanta bigs defender - tick, Eddie everywhere - tick, and so on.

Who needs a young coach? Denis - 2008 and beyond.

JR for sure.

Closely followed by the Waite/Setanta defence.

Bugger off I was there in '95. :P

Waite excites me in defense, as does Walker.

Fisher improved kicking has been a huge plus.

Looking forward to Setanta becoming a bit more attacking, as he showed later in the game.

The fact we have depth and players more than capable of playing senior football missing out on yesterdays game even given the bigger squads

We look bigger, we look faster and we are fitter than most

Paul Ford needs a big pat on the back, we run as strong in the final 15 as we do in the first

A positive of the night for me was that Digby mentioned the Blueseum in the Sticks room before the game started. Also like his walking around the crowd asking history questions (wonder where he gets the answers from 8) ) and giving away drink cards as well, great idea and should get a few more punters into the social club.

.... and I never sat next to Danny either.

Fish showing he can be a much needed other forward option .. and that he can kick straight

setanta of course

jordy russell .. like his steady improvement

lance "footy brain"® .. showed he could still get a kick in the second half of the final

hartlett finally in the mix

walks .. hardest worker on the ground

murph .. how far has he come since the glimpses last pre-season !

gibbs .. see murph (think 2008)

the team work .. looking good working it out of defence

the wins .. they all now know the song :-D

.. go blues ..

.. round 1 ..

Agree bar the one marked above Cazz.

Was good, but we were sucked into Brisbane's ploys in the first half. They'd make it a scrap on the ground then fish it out to a player running wide of the congestion once they drew enough of our blokes in.

We were silly for falling for it, but thankfully that was a thing of the past in the second half.

'Stoppage flooding' aside, we were the quicker team, the better kicking team, the better defensive team (as evidenced by Brisbane still resorting to handballing once in space and carrying) and better in the contested situations as you said.

Our tackling was more effective too and still a relatively high count when you consider our time in possession and the shorter quarters.

Just a great team game, and nearing close to a 4-quarter effort.

Not true. We only won one in our darkest years.

The crowd to get 46,000 to a game with the majority Carlton supports. There is plenty of room on the bandwagon jump aboard and sign up as members.

You could almost see his frustration melting away after that goal. Great stuff.

I didn't sit near dannyboy either, thank @#$%&!.

I wasn't at the match with jimmae.

I've been able to hang varying amounts of shit on Swans/Collingwood/Essendon* supporters, who have given it to me for a few years now.

We now play a better brand of football. Fast and exciting. That "chip the ball around sh1t" a la Hawthorn was brain-numbing at best. Even when we won last year the quality was crap. We take more risks, but our boys now have a bit of faith in their judgement.

The other thing is the physical development of our players. Everyone can say "play the kids" till their blue in the face, but there's no point in putting kids on the park just to get belted. The best example of this is Jordan Russell. Now at 10kg heavier than is arrival weight he can mix it with other midfielders in the comp.

Bring on the Tigers!!!

There are many exciting positives but the one that stands out for me is the evenness of the team. We have to drop 2 players from the team to play rd 1 and thats not including adding someone to the squad and I can only think of Wiggins that I would drop and of course thats just my preference on him others would keep him but I can't actually think of anyone else who could make way that wouldn't be a loss to the team..We haven't that in quite a while. They all contribute its just great.
