Need a favour fellow TC'ers..........................

Due to the AFL's new & not-so improved joke of a website being Anti-MAC i cannot get any stats from last nights game.

Can anybody help me out?

(p.s. wouldn't mind knowing what the free kick count was too?) [/code]

Won't be able to add much to what everyone else has written (or would've written I'm assuming) but really want to single out Russell for an absolute splendid job on Power, I don't know stats for Power but there wouldn't've been much, Russell monstered him IMO and went a long way to winning the match. He is definitely in our best 22.

Good post mate, Russell was fantastic!! I think Power had about 15 touches.

And what about the goal in the 3rd :-D

Did anyone catch what Murph said to Copeland in the last qtr. Murph had just given away a free and was standing the mark when Copeland came over and gave Murph a few words. Murph returned fire but I couldn't understand anything bar the last few words which I think were "you c@#khead".

I got the opinion Murph has a long memory :-D

Just a question about this new "hands in the back" fiasco.

Why is it not ok to place a hand on the other player's back in a marking contest but it's okay to completely pole-axe him from behind, using anything but the hands?

And why is it not ok for a fullback to place hands on a full forward's back, but the forward can shove the defender out of the contest completely and take the mark without penalty?

And why is it a high tackle if the player with the ball ducks his head and makes no effort to raise it a gain. How else are you expected to tackle him?

I get the feeling too many games are going to be ruined by this business, and it's just not good enough.

As a former umpire light years ago, the balance to in the back was shepherding against the man if front. He had to be going for the ball and in many case these last 4 weeks, the man in front has not.

Ducking the head [when tackled]lwas an automatic free as the player had ceased to be making an attempt to get rid of the ball. Another act of play.

What excites me is the amount of tackles not only by the more robust but the likes of Murphy. They are tackled and remain "caught"

But why are we progressing around the boundary again Has pagan got no other game plan

I thought it was fairly even, although it seemed as though they favoured Brisbane for 10 minutes but then moved onto Carlton for the next 10. :?

If it was Copeland I would have said karma.

Brisbane were targetting Murphy again last night - in anycase stiff for Notting, live by the sword die by the sword I say.

Murphy came off better in this incident and didn't I give it to the Brisbane filth around me last night. 8)

They didnt like it.

I said before the game given where we are at as a side, even if we lose we still win - but Im glad we won. 8)

And to all the myopic moronic flower who have rung up the RADIO TALKBACK trying a bit of Carlton baiting (Dennis from Northcote, how can you move your legs with the brain the size of a walnut  ) go flower yourselves.

That was gold. I laughed for ages.

It was something like "You'll keep, ya flower."

:-D

Murph's obviously a big reader of TC, and doesn't mind giving it a bit of COCK........!

Best moment for me on the night happened right in front of us.

Brown leads up to the boundary, Setanta punches the ball clear over the line, clenches the fist and yells 'c'mon!'.

It was without a doubt the single greatest individual display of emotion I have ever seen from a player.

Agreed. It was pretty even - however our 10 minute period in the second quarter was compounded by the players losing the plot a little. Setanta looks like a guy who gets told he's stuffing up a lot (looking around to see if the whistle blew because of something he did)... That's not exactly the end of the world as it shows he has great pride in his game and work ethic... All of the guys just need to relax a little and accept that sometimes you get some shite calls.

I suspect this was the message at half time and all credit to The Denis if it was.

If every player on our list had the same focus and drive as Setanta who knows where this list would get to. :-D

They say his brother Aisake goes well too. 8)

Brisbane are the new Essendon*. Filthy little snipers who just go up to a player and shove them just because they are bullies. And what about Wood's cheap shot on Ackland?

And the whole "throw yourself backwards onto the ground to get the free kick" was pathetic.

I thought Murphy's tackle on Johnno Brown was awesome. The only way he could break it was to try the fend off the head trick and the umpy saw it.

Saw him scrambling down from level 3 to get to the basement @ half-time.

Used to see the two of them at the Uni pool & gym quite a bit; they're a committed pair and Aisake looks pretty much filled out as of last night.

Looking forward to seeing him playing Bullants first and more this year. 8)

Ive always thought that our true glory year will be 2009 or 2008 - but I dont think we can yet rule out something special happening in 2007.

Ruck and midfield are still issues but no longer the issues of a team that has nothing, but of a team that has significant potential.
