2007 Carlton Membership Tally is back on the official Carlton site...

Target - 32,000
Current - 24,180

I was told today we have passed 24,500 members. I'm certainly hoping for a Geelong win tonight and a Blues win tomorrow. A Carlton v Geelong GF at TD would be a great experience for our young guys and keep the registers ringing.

Never could rely on Geelong for much.

the win last night has to have helped things out in the membership department...especially in the fashion it was done, the fans up North were very vocal!...a win this week will throw us to about at 30,000 at round 1...

Essendon* are at 29,914

It certainly looks like we are closing in. You would expect that we would sign quite a few at the ground Saturday night abd during this week.

yesterday my brother's wife had a baby boy, Noah Andrew...and although my brother supports Essendon* (yeh i know, he's the black sheep) and his wife supports StKilda, my dad and i arrived at the hospital within minutes with the smallest Carlton Jumper that money could buy us, and today we bought a baby blue membership...

so add 1 more to the tally :P haha

Go Blues!

that figure has been on Essendon*'s website since the 25th of feb, i'm sure it'd be significantly higher by now.

Essendon*'s membership now 31,780.

We should aim at 35,000 minimum.
If we can win 3 out of the first 5 games and all the Carlton supporters jump on board, who knows 40,000 members is not a pipe-dream.

There are a hell of a lot of people who barrack for the Blues out there.

I don't know about you guys, but I am totally obsessed with how many members we have versus other clubs.

I talk to people, and I could almost swear we have more supporters out there than Collingwood and Essendon*.

The last 3 football clubs I have been at - Scotch College, Donvale and East Doncaster- Carlton have had the greatest % of supporters.

The other day we were having a debate - Carlton vs Collingwood and there were 2 Collingwood supporters surrounded by 9 Carlton - they lost the debate obviously. My Collingwood mate could not believe how many blokes supported the blues.

I believe that Blues supporters overall are a little less passionate about their club than say Collingwood and Essendon*. Maybe a better way of putting it would be they (pies and bombers) have a greater section of hardcores than we do. Having said that, don't we have the biggest unofficial websites in terms of members and doesn't the www.carltonfc.com.au rate amongst the top 3 clubs in terms of hits?

In conclusion, if we have success over the next couple of years, I would be sad if we can't crack 40,000 and pass Collingwood and Essendon* in members. I think our club is ready to explode - on the field and off it!

Yep, you're right bluejoker. I'm with you. Even today, I spoke with a lady on the phone from Narramine in western NSW...she was a Carlton supporter; not a member, but I'll work on that...I'll get my wholesaler to give her a discount if she uses the savings to buy an interstate silver membership for $105.

Together we stand, divided we fall.

Strap yourself in because the Carlton G force will make your eyes pop  when we do get on our roll past 40,000.

We are angry, we have been frustrated, we have been subjected to more crap or at least the type of crap no team has been able to endure, and we will be louder, more arrogant and so annoying when we strike back...

...and it starts NOW!

Bluejoker, I’d agree with you on that. I think Carlton supporters generally (and I really am generalising here) probably haven’t shown the levels of widespread passion that some of the other clubs have and this could translate into membership levels lower than our bigger rivals. I think this stems from the fact that especially over the last 35 or so years we have been consistently successful and our supporter base hasn’t had to endure much suffering (until recently) so perhaps that has developed into a sort of sub-culture of strong support of the club but not passionate, membership-paying type support because the club has always been doing OK. Im not sure if I am explaining myself properly here.

Recently, we have felt tough times and there was an initial response to this with a surge of supporter passion which translated into increased membership numbers. Maybe that will be the stimulus to further growth when we build to success. Im not sure but maybe. Going through tough times is sometimes of greater inspiration for passion then success.

We have hit 25,000. we are half way there
in a couple of three years time I'm sure we will get close to 50,000. If they include all Carlton members from baby blue to junior blue, If not officially these people should be recognized as being members

2007 Carlton Membership Tally

Target - 32,000

Current - 25,011
