I’m not trying to put a damper on the flag issue, in fact I think it’s a very good idea and the whole thread by you guys is hilarious but before you go to all the trouble and expence make sure you will be allowed to enter into the ground with it also the size may be an issue.

The Orange society of Victoria might get upset as well so be careful, it will be tremendous if you will get away with it.

The 24-year-old Melbourne University international student assistant is an unabashed O'hAilpin fan and took the Irish flag with him to Telstra Dome on Saturday (after attending a St Patrick's Day function) in the hope that not only would the Blues win the premiership but he might present it to his hero as he walked through the race after the match. Mahoney, though, did much better than that because when a Blues official spotted him in the crowd minutes after the final siren he beckoned Mahoney to throw the flag to him, promising to pass it to the Irishman at the presentation ceremony. "To see Setanta run the lap of honour holding my flag was surreal," Mahoney said yesterday. "What he has achieved with Carlton in such a short time is fantastic. We all love him." Mahoney, who has close Blues connections of his own — his mother Lynne is a niece of Blues champ Jack Wrout — isn't at all concerned that he hasn't seen the flag since. "Who cares, Setanta can keep it if he wants," he said. The Irishman, by the way, had double reason for celebration at the weekend — yesterday was his 24th birthday.
