And as a further tribute to Ron Evans all food will be reduced to half price for the duration of the game.

More intellugent than booing! Put me down for it (in spirit .. if it's on the radio, I'll turn it off for the tribute .. there's my protest .. or, if it's on SEN, they'll do it for me)

I read that Essendon* want Evans tribute to be at the G in order to

"to celebrate his vast contribution to football at the MCG, the ground Evans and his Essendon* board of the time led the Dons to from Windy Hill in 1992."

I have a real problem coming to terms with this. Wasn't Evans supposed to be Mr Telstra Dome? He was one of the people that dreamt it up wasn't he? So why wouldn't you have it at the telstra dome?

If they do it at the MCG they can hope to get more people to the game and so boost the catering take for Spotless.

"Boo-ing" isn't the right way to go about it. But we can do a silent protest that has occurred in other sporting codes (soccer in England).

If it goes ahead, we can launch a campaign to get every Carlton supporter to TURN THEIR BACK ON THE GROUND when the Evans tribute is on.

No shouting, no noise. Just 35-40,000 Bluebaggers with their backs to the playing field. Would be powerfully symbolic.

Sheffield Wednesday got their manager sacked with a similar protest years ago - looks very powerful when done well.

Thats what i would support.

Make no mistake, the media are all in the Evans for Sainthood camp. Disrespecting him by booing would backfire badly on our public image

They should do their tribute in their round 2 home match against Freo. All scum supporters can pay tribute to him there, don't know why Sheedy feels the need to extend the tribute to Blues fans who for the most part despise the AFL hierarchy.

Also all blues fans should boycott the catering that day. Hard for the alcohol i know but bring your own food or eat maccas before the game

The club must realise that there is a lot of bitterness towards Evans amongst the supporters... and as such would be crazy to agree to it as any kind of protest will make us look bad unfortunately... although I like the idea of the silent, turned back, protest.

The best thing would be for the club to say thanks but no thanks... that would avoid any embarassment on the day, and send the AFL a message that we certainly don't think he was the fantastic administrator they'd have us believe!

Maybe we should tell the Bummers that we had already planned to honour Fraser Brown for that game. :-D

Let them have their tribute.

After we have flogged them, we can really tell the whole AFL commnity.

WE"RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With our glorious past captain in the very seat of the "Evans".

let the day be a symbol of the changing of the guard.

A new era!

Go you Bluebaggers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.. ..yeah yeah, most folks ain't none too thrilled with this proposition.. ..unfortunately with Sheedy blabbering to the media already about the possibility of this tribute match if we don't agree to it we look like black hearted bastards, and although a silent protest sounds good it also shows very poor form when you're protesting a man's life.. ..and booing during that shows zero class.. ..face it, we still very much need all the good press we can get our grubby little hands on, cos we're not out of the crap yet and our pants are still very much down.. ..we're not in the position yet to go yanking the afl's tail.. ..this might become one of those cases where we just take our medicine, offer a smile and get on with beating the dons.. ..and cash in on sheedy's plan in some way shape or form..

This would be a very bad idea. Carlton should politely refuse.

My first reaction was "Why politely?" but then I thought of the media reaction to an impolite refusal .. which we don't need ... but how can you refuse, politely or otherwise, and get positive spin?
