There are alot of rumours going around that the game is going to be moved from melbourne to the Gabba. As a supporter I hope the board does everything they can to stop this from happening. There is no better way to put behind the turmoil of the past year then to host a grand final where our young talent is showcased. We all know this would be a huge opportunity to attract sponsors, sign up members, and get a real feel of momentum going into the season. I'm pretty sure our case cannot be stronger to have the grand final here. The AFL have established this competition with the rules clearly that the team who kicks the most goals will host the grand final. The fact that there is significant prize money on offer (250k for the winner and potentially a million dollars), should indicate they cannot just change the venue on a whim. As a Carlton member who was planning to bring 3 Carlton supporters to the game, pay for their tickets and hope that the game would convince them to sign up as members, a Grand Final in Brisbane would be very very dissapointing.

If the game is moved to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, "Chester" Anderson should be hung by his Testicles

I can't see the game being moved.

Ultimately the AFL has shown that it is driven by only one thing, money. 50k people at the Dome will make them more money than 20k people in QLD. They won't move it.

I can assure you the Board shares your views. The benefits to our Club of hosting this game are almost immesureable ( as I posted the other day I think under the membership thread). Rest assured we will do what we can to ensure the game is in Melbourne. Ultimately however, as I am sure you know, it is the AFL's call. If anyone has a spare bedroom or 20 please call Leigh Matthews asap.

Surely if the game needs to be moved because of unforseen circumstances such as lack of accommodation, which i think is a lame excuse by the way, then why host the game in their home state. We earned the right to play in Melbourne.

If we need to suffer then so do they. The game should be hosted in a neutral place such as Tassie or Sydney wherever not to suit them.

I certainly dont want to miss out on this grandfinal, it may be small to everyone else but not to me....... Leigh Matthew could not give a toss about this competition he said it himself, they have had an armchair ride over the last few years its ridiculous.

This game means everything to Carlton, despite what anyone says. A grandfinal with these young kids will be an unbelievable experience and to play it at the dome in front of 40-50 people, you cannot buy that sort of experience.

Did the AFL only find out about the GP and swimming champs this week? :?

Surely they would have acted professionally and prepared for an interstate team accomodation months ago just in case?

Exactly - send the Lions to Hotel Formule 1 in Campbellfield - I hear the hotel rooms are $59 per night

Guys, if we're good enough we'll win in Brisbane.

How sweet would that be?

If we don't host the final when clearly we've qualified to do so, the TC faithful should hold an egg throwing session outside AFL house this week.

Rules are rules, we've scored more goals, we get the final. Simple. No hotels? Tell Demetriou the pr!ck to find one.

Harra, if the AFL do force it to be moved, you should apply for compensation because this would cost us financially with memberships, merchandise etc., and we did earn the right to host. Financial compensation would not be out of order.

If it has to be moved, move it to Kardinia Park and play it during the day- at least all the Melbourne supporters would still get to go and we'd pack the stadium. (otherwise move it to Perth so me and Grofunger can go!!! )

Hello, just get them to bring a few tents and pitch them at the Dome. Hell, it has a roof, so they only need to bring sleeping bags. It'd be like one giant sleep over!

First major test of this new board IMHO. If the game is moved, there will be a lot of angry CFC fans. Will be seen as more of the same, AFL telling us what to do (loss of independence due to financial position, etc).

If the game is moved, CFC should be given a massive payout (think what Melbourne/Hawthorn/Kangaroos get when they move a game interstate - something in the order of 250-300k, taking into account publicity, membership and merchandise).

Good luck Mark, and thanks for the update.

Then the AFL would send out a please explain to the Lions over several patches of burnt grass...

"Lions players smoked grass - AFL commences cover-up"

Bring it to Sydney.

We've got the ground to take the crowd.

It's easy for you Melbourne people to get here easily and cheaply.

We've got a HUGE Sydney supporter base up here.

There are plenty of hotels available.

Win/win, really.

Agree. Would Eddie let the game transfer to Qld if it was Collingwood ?
