Have to disagree Jarusa. I thought Waite played a very good game. A couple of clangers but overalla solid defenders game and I'm very excited about his future in defence. Also Tex was just about best for mine. His run from defence is fast and exciting. a couple of clangers but oh well. Others i liked were simpson, stevens, fev and murphy. Ackland was also good and provides something no ruckman has for us for a while. Great game blues, onwards and upwards.

Lets take it as a positive we beat a team that wanted to win to tonite

YEs we made errors but we getting valuable game time into our kids

By winning we get to see the blues play next week

We will be kept in the media so by going on the practice circuit less exposure so getting through the NAB is good for the Kids

Builds confidence for the young kids

So lets take this as a positive

I was compareing his game to last week, clearly inferior but still IMO a great addition to the backline. Hope he stays there and cements a spot. I love Waite as player and while I would love to see him succeed as a forward amk probably now resigned to seeing him forge out a career as a defender. No shame in that, but the most skillfull players should always be played in the forward line.

Yes Walker did the team things tonight, however, T-Bird does them week in, week out, and constantly gets shit on for it?

If Walker had played that sort of a game without any responsibilities, I'd be putting him up there in our best too. However, he played on a tall forward, who kicked 4 on him at the same time, which negates his game a bit.

Whether or not he should have been playing on Boyle is another matter however.

Jackson & Kennedy were the highlights for me.

by the sounds of the crowd, it's Carlton who should be playing home games there :P

T-bird does not tackle.

Looo up the stats,he is piss weak compared to every other 'key backman' in the league by a long way.

Just on Murph 15 CONTESTED POSSIES.

Next best on the ground10. Still young, this bloke is going to be THE GUN OF GUNS!!!

Also undersized compared to most "key backmen" in the league. Haven't seen the stats, no. But I'd be interested to see how they would be in comparison to similiar sized players.

I am pretty sure Walker does the team things week in week out, dont know what Walker I am watching :? ,and I know T-Bird does them aswell, but dont recall he people giving him shit for it.

Walker's game was not negated at all, his teammates turning over the ball and him then being left with 3 guys to take is far from his fault. But I guess it's 1 of those things that your damned if you do, damned if don't.

Softcock. Give me the stats. His tackling stats are pathetic compared to any key backman regardless of an inch or two. 8)

yeah i was a little suprised by that match-up, thought t-bird could have played on him. But then t-bird played a very good game on williams, which justified the match-up for me.

Walker was good, but he was not in our top 5. Murph, Ackland, Stevo, T-bird, Kennedy, Simpson, Carrazzo were all better imo.

I think we are seeing some good improvement from Russell, Kennedy, Waite, O'hailpin, and even Murph is getting better each week. This win is great for membership, especially in tassie. good for revenue and gets all the supporters excited.

Good win. Go blues.

I thought psychologically we were much more on the ball tonight. Always had control at key areas of the ground and enough players with the poise at the end of it.

The entire game was a clanger-fest. Too many turnovers from both teams, but plenty of pressure and good tackling from both sides.

Heath Scotland is very much a barometer for us. When he plays well and gets plenty of it coming out of half back we invariably play well. Walker is the new Andy McKay. I just love the way he tucks it under and kicks on the afterburners. Stevo, Ackland, Simpson and Carrots were all very good, and Matty Lappin and Kouta were essential in settling us down in the last quarter.

Marc Murphy - how good is he? Has anyone ever won the Brownlow in their second season? I'd be tempted to whack a twenty on him this week -you never know.

I like the way it's coming together - of course we have such a long way to go, but teh boys seem to be backing themselves a bit more so far this year and while that will probably cost us at times it will make for more opportunities to win games.

I guess when they said unprecedented they meant that it's never been this bad.

Can't wait til the real stuff starts if this is an indicator!

Hmm ... so many people with completely different view of what happened. I thought it was a good game to watch .. fierce tackling and fast movine ... some clangers but basically impressive by both teams.

For Carlton ... I rekon

3 Murphy ... simply a gun with poise and timing
2 Stevens ... superb after half time especially
1 Walker ... just did so much work with a few slip ups early on.

With an honerable mention for Carazzo.

Another scrappy win which indicates top me a hard year ahead.

Murphy is the GUN OF GUNS.

There is no way to describe how good he is going to be!!

Good that despite Waite and Setanta having cleary inferior games we still won. The midfield was much better today.

Stevens is a b-grade version of Bradley which is fantastic if he sticks around until the next premiership.

Betts is a gun and will be a 50 goal (+30 created) forward pocket in our next premiership side. He set the standard for forward pressure and tonight the forward pressure was as good as I have ever seen in it in years.

Still a long way to go. but....

GO BLUES!!!!

I'd say I'm a bigger fan of Stevens and Thornton, and probably not quite so bullish about Bentick and Betts, but I agree with a lot of these comments.

I thought it was a win built on very, very good defensive pressure and tackling. Good to see Carrazzo stand out again. Hopefully those couple of goals will quieten the knocks on him a little.

Also, Tim Lane shit me to tears with his constant sly remarks about Setanta's kicking.

Not sure whether it was mentioned already in this thread but it pissed me off!

Michael Christian is not too far behind.

The glee he shows when Carlton gets a hammering is palpable - and when Carlton is doing well he chucks in his snide comments as well.

I'm sure he made a few tonight - but I am too hammered at this point in time to remember any.

Oh yeah, @#$%&! ing great win tonight. 8)
