I agree Ryan, especially through the middle and in rotation/bench!
Walker/Hird O'hAilpin/Johns Lucas/Saddington and Fevola/Michael, just to name a few tussells, will be interesting.

2. Jordan Russell 32. Bret Thornton 17. Setanta O’hAilpin
13. Andrew Lovett 18. Matthew Lloyd 21. Courtney Johns
1. Andrew Walker 9. Jason Saddington 12. Matthew Lappin
5. James Hird 25. Scott Lucas 42. Nathan Lovett-Murray
6. Kade Simpson 29. Heath Scotland 33. Ryan Houlihan
23. Richard Cole 14. Jason Johnson 24. Brent Stanton
14. Brad Fisher 8. Lance Whitnall 30. Jarrad Waite
12. Andrew Welsh 31. Dustin Fletcher 23. Mark Bolton
28. Cameron Cloke 25. Brendan Fevola 19. Eddie Betts
16. Kepler Bradley 22. Mal Michael 10. Mark McVeigh
11. Cain Ackland 24. Nick Stevens
19. David Hille 4. Jobe Watson
3. Marc Murphy
11. Damien Peverill
44. Andrew Carrazzo 4. Bryce Gibbs 18. Paul Bower
5. Josh Kennedy 38. Ryan Jackson 26. Joe Anderson
27. Jason Laycock 8. Jason Winderlich 30. Patrick Ryder
6. Angus Monfries 29. Alwyn Davey 20. Henry Slattery

Outs:
23. Adam Hartlett 41. Ross Young
43. Anthony Koutoufides7. Adam Bentick
26. Chris Heffernan 36. Sam Lonergan
43. Bachar Houli 15. Courtenay Dempsey

I don't believe Whitnall & Bentick will play and I am hoping they rest Kouta for this one as well.

** Changed accordingly then! :-D
I can't wait to see if our boys have a new found enthusiasm just like the supporters!

Interesting Surrey.

My two cents:

- I'd trial Setanta on Llyod............just to see how he'd go.
- Waite to thrash Jones comfortably & Easilly
- Thornton to take on Lucas.
- Bower also accross Half Back / running up the wing.

- Hird will probably only play in dibs & drabs so Walker would be wasted on him. (See last scentence for Hird Match-up!)

- Throw Russell onto Lovett-Murray.

- Use Walker (possibly monitoring Lovett) as the extractor from the backline & throw in Lappin to fill the void of Whitnall's 2006 role.

- Move Whitnall up forward in Tandem with Fev. (Hopefully Sheedy uses a Mal Michael & Fletcher combo on Fev/Whitnall) meaning...................(see below)

- Ackland to drop back into Goals &....................
- Kennedy / Fisher / Cloke accross the Half Forward line.

- Betts to crumb & Boundary line duties.

- Use Murphy / Simpson as the pace through the corridor working of Bower & Waite down the wing / out of defense.

But here's my doozie..............................and you'll probably all hate me for it.................................

- Throw Gibbs onto Hird. :o  :o  :o

I like your thinking Ryan2000 but I would put T Bird on Sooky Lloyd and Setanta on Lucas.

I think Setanta will be playing on Lloyd. By the sound of the training reports they have been playing Setanta on Fevola alot also Crossisca has mentioned releasing Thorton from the back line and seeing how Setanta handles playing on the bigger forwards.

Im sure that Thorton will go back when needed but will probably start up the ground a bit and see how it goes.

I am so excited about the first bounce, regardless of the fact that it's preseason game.

I think we match up well with them...even better than in our past wins/draw.

Ryan's idea will probably happen...just as Pagan did with Walker on Hird.

I prefer Walker to keep a look out on Hird when he's in the forwardline.

Lance will play!

We've goota hit them had in the midfield. Gotta be accountable. We have pace and quality...then that would minimise damage by their forwards.

It looks like we have a bit of pace around the ground...and versatlity, with Waite earmarked as CHB, but with Saddo in Waite can play wing forward....

I think they'll have to watch for our moves moreso than the other way around.

Hille vs Ackland / Cloke is very important...I hope Ackland kicks a couple and Hille kicks none.

I'd suggets those to miss will be:

Anderson and Hartlett.
Young and Jackson.

Good stuff Surrey...saved me a lot of time.
You inspire me ryan 2000.....everytime!....you're the only reason I'm glad Fitzroy folded.

How convenient is it for Campo to always be injured when he plays against us. You can run but you cannot hide we will get you.

It is slightly amusing that Campo is about the only recent player that I can think of not to have his name and photo uploaded in the Blueseum's image gallery?

I am guessing he isn't the most popular Carlton player of the last 20 years.

LOL

I hope they put Gibbs or Walker on Hird as he won't be around too much longer, and realisticly may never play against Carlton again if he gets injured.

Use the time wisely.

because when he gets the ball he always looks unsure and he kicks it to the 10th option instead of the 1st or 2nd. One of Thornton's strengths to me is that he doesn't give away many free kicks 1 on 1 which is vital on the last line of defence.

B: Bower , O'Hailpin, Thornton
HB: Walker, Waite , Scotland
C: Simpson, Carrazzo, Lappin
HF: Kennedy, Whitnall, Houlihan
F: Koutoufides, Fevola, Betts
R: Ackalnd, Murphy, Stevens
I: Russell, Gibbs , Fisher, Cloke, Jackson, Bentick

- Tried not to go too tall down in the back half. Saddington stiff not to get a go but went for Bower's youth ahead of him.
- Carrots needs to start in the midfield.
- Filled the bench with mostly mids to get some run.
- Forwards very dangerous with 4 strong marking targets up there and Houlihan and Betts creating other opportunities.
- When Gibbs comes on i think he should play HFF. Just ease him into it.

There is no reason why we shouldn't win this game. I reckon us by 4 goals.
