I'm not crediting Elliot with rises in membership. Pratt is responsible for the large increase the past few weeks, purely and simply because people were sick of Carlton 1 and he offers hope a plan and a future, not doom, gloom and disunity.

PS: I just had a friendly neighbour tell me he bought a membership because JE is back along with 4 of his cousins.

Well I guess that says a lot about your neighbour.

perhaps his neighbor can see the positive aspect in all people and isn't blinded by vengeance. 8)

If that was the case the neighbour should have had a membership for the last 4 years at least. 8)

I cant argue with that response jars

Well may I just add that I as well know 4 people who are now back on as members with Elliott's/Pratts return.
It doesn't make it right but that's what life is about. John has friends and plenty of Carlton people who love the fact he is all Navy Blue. Whether all you highroaders think it's right or wrong is irrelevant.

Hopefully the club can move forward as 1 now and everyone gets behind, Pratt, Whitnall, Pagan, Kernahan etc.

NO MORE DIVISIONS! :-D

Surrey conflating the two is a bit rich. I would bet serious money that the majority of new members signed up because of Pratt and Pratt alone.

....but agree entirely with no more divisions - everyone must get behind the new board and the new captain.

Does that group of 4 people include you Surrey?

A friend of mine is back on the bandwagon for the first time since 02'. Reason being he was disgusted by the board's gutless reaction to the penalties and Collins' role in the whole thing.

And yet a lot of people came on board at that time of great need.

I suppose you've got to balance whether your hate for any particular individual is greater than your love for the club. :?

Mate I am sick and tired of going over this continuously and for some reason certain individuals require confirmation when it comes to me over and over again. For the last time on this site and everywhere else for that matter, I have been and still am a current CFC member.

Now I doubt that this will stop you guys from asking again, but I suppose it's worth it one more time.

No because it was common knowledge that we had been doing it for years just like a few other clubs.

No other clubs were stupid enough to do it with post-it notes though.

The AFL had nothing until Collo made SOS, Braddles and O'Reilly spill the beans. If they told Collo to stick it like mad dog did there would have been no penalties.

And I for one will never forget that Collo sold us out!! Yellow bellied Prick!!

And then he took over and then what? Nothing. Typical bean counter...no personality, no vision, no marketing, no mateship...just bloody boring numbers...nothing else.

All I can say now is thatI'm glad that Black period of the Collins and Smorgon reign is over. :-D

But I welcome them back to the club with open arms...lets move forward.

Dom, it is simple. Not all people put the club before egos or grudges like a majority of us do, not all people want to invest in a rabble. If people have chosen to come on board again now Pratt and/or Elliot is back, then it is their right to do so.

carlton were over the cap on three occassion due to player injury payments when we were at 98% of the salary cap..

Essendon* created matthewlloyd.com and jameshird.com and sold them for $200.000 each and gave the payments to lloyd and hird which was apparently outside the salary cap..at the blessing of ron evans in 2003.

Maybe we should just hand back the 95 cup -give it to Geelong will that make you all feel better wash away the sins of the past .

Paying people more money doesn't make them play better

Every team has rorted the cap in some way or form they just used Carlton to scare everyone else and knock us down for the few years the way the AFL is structured these days it is no good having the same teams being successful all the time. It is like a school yard every little boy has to have his turn to win . You watch over the next few years - Freo - StKilda - Bulldogs - Geelong - Melbourne will all win a flag because the AFL wants them to

The Game is not delusional he just says it how it is

Paying people more money doesn't make them better, but it does make them play for you instead of the mob down the road.

Most teams cheated the salary cap in one way or another. I agree. But they didn't get smashed by the AFL with penalties. Why not?

Because they were either smart enough to see that the situation was changing and come clean during the amnesty, or they were smart enough to realise what was coming and minimise the damage. There may have been a third group smart enough to get away with it.

We failed to do any of these. The balance of power shifted during the 90s. The AFL had the big stick and we didn't notice. Of course they were looking for a way to get us, and we gave it to them. You can complain it's unfair that they picked on us cause we're Carlton, but that's life, we should have been smart enough to see it coming.

Combine the penalties from this with the way the playing list was managed during the mid to late 90s and that's why we've had 5 years of very poor performances. It was a monumental series of mistakes, and Elliot was in charge.

Did most clubs also build a shithouse stand that nobody used that lead to massive amounts of debt?
