39,000 in a one club town (or 2 if you count Perth).

39,000 seats is beyond the limit for their member allocation at Subi...now that's ridiculous. What do you think happens when the derby is on; ie their biggest games? Let them have their advantage and their shitfight too.

Great to read Teen spirit, ozdevil, bluejoker...you don't know haow much of a privelege it is to have your club at your doorstep downtown Carlton, Melbourne.

Keep up the hype and watch our boys fly in 2007.

Go Blues!

I think i do know how much of a privelage it is to have my club at the doorstep..

Just tell you i livedi n tasmania for 27 years before moving to Adelaide in 1998 when i first seen my very first afl game which was Port Power versus Carlton at footy park in Adelaide...

Living in Adelaide on meant i would see my beloved blues play twice a season

it was only until Last year in July since i moved to Melbourne from Adelaide do i get the chance to see Carlton play on a regular basis

I am now 35 years of age i have never been to a night game in my life only seen Carlton play 16 games in 8 years out of 35years of life

I have always supported the blues not on a financial status by being a member in ways i wish i had have taken membership out years ago.... and Now i am supporting my club by not just taking club captain gold premium out but also i have spent a further 250 bucks in being a blue suit as well... no i am not well off or a person thatsit in an office i am just a humble truck driver shifting furniture around

I understand those that live interstate and cant get to see the blues play on a regular basis like those in Melbourne can and also get to see them train...

I know there is many reasons for why people cant obtain memberships wether it is for financial reasons or wether you feel you cant get benifit becuase you live interstate and ya only going to see a couple of games a year

I am no way a snob or look down on a person becuase they have or havent taken out membership.. i apologise if i have come across to anyone who feels i have looked down on them for not taking membership thats not my intentions...

cheers

Great post ozdevil.

I know every Carlton supporter would consider watching their team live as aprivelege....as for other opposition supporters...I doubt they would.

I really don't have time this year, I will put the money into merchandise and other stuff. Next year there will be 4 of us hopefully all taking out the $1,200 package. I am already a silver member. When my football finished in a couple of years, I want to get more heavily involved.

yet another ladder that the Kangaroos will be at the bottom of this year...they're in a mess...Daniel Wells to Freo or West Coast at seasons end too...quote me and hold me to it in October.

Towards the end of membership day yesterday on SEN they claimed that the total was over 20K (cant remember who from the club it was). And that the day on SEN was very successful, however, no numbers were offered

I heard there was about 5000 at family day yesterday...........surley not all of them were members. I reckon we've probably added another 1k or 2k since the win on saturday night & family days turn-up.

Keep this winning going and who knows how many members we'll have by the time the real season starts!
30,000? :o

Guys,

Some numbers from yesterday.

5200 attended
Nearly 1000 memberships sold over the weekend ( including a few on Saturday night)
Excellent merchandise sales

We have just under 22,000 members.

Those that attended Sunday would agree there was a great feeling amongst the crowd, particularly when Richard was presented.

Thank you to all who attended with or without their families.

Thanks for the update Mark.

Has the club revised its budget of 27,000 members? Or without wanting to pre-empt the answer to that question, how many are we expecting now?

Thanks Mark - we need to sustain our merchandise sales rate, hopefully thru other means than winning on-field.

To sell just under 1000 memberships on weekend is an excellent result. To break our membership record doesn't seem all that difficult from here.

You would think 35k would be a realistic target?

Saints 22,241
Bulldogs 20,955

Making our move :-D

We have not revised our budgets at this stage. We will not revise budgets, particularly membership, until the season has well and truly commenced. Having said that I personally would be very disappointed if we didn't get to at least 30,000 and hopefully 32,000 members. There are many aspects to the budget that can turn on a couple of early bad on field performances - membership, gate receipts, merchandising, walk up corporate sales.

But...... every one is pushing in the same direction and we are working on all the stuff we can control. Added to this I get the feeling from players I have spoken to that they believe they are part of a close knit group, a group that now has genuine talent. So many of the guys are similar age and I think for the first time in a while there is a belief that this group can start to make a real impression and over the coming years make their mark in the comp.

More efforts like Saturday, win or lose will reinforce this belief in our members and supporters.

We are definately seeing this belief permeate into the corporate world with many more willing/wanting to get involved now and strap in for the ride. I think we might see some inflationary forces in this area at Carlton over the next couple of seasons.

Had to have a laugh about this, I understand things are busy down there in the membership department.

I've just received 3 emails from the club all within 5 minutes with the title saying "Thanks for standing with us."

1st address to my 1st kid -
Quote:
Thank you for Signing up & standing with us for 2007.

Membership tally - 15,572
This email was signed by Marc Murphy.

2nd address to me,
Quote:
Thank you for signing up & standing with us for 2007.

Membership tally - 20,974 (target - 32,000)
This email was signed by Kade, Murph and Lance

3rd address to the other half with the same message as mine.

Still waiting for the email for my 2nd kid and would be interested in which email I get.

Thanks for the update Mark, 22,000 already and 1000 signed up on family day which is great news.
