I heard from my mail, that Stevens would most likely be captain...

I hope its not Lance, that just seems like a "2002 - 2006 Carlton easy decision"

By senior I meant at Carlton the longest. Sorry I'm not allowed to name anyone but it would be more than 4-5 and they wanted him removed as acting captain last year as he has never set the right example to the other players.

So Blueworld, IF Whitnall isn't liked by players that have been there a long time, do you think that their anger or whatever towards him affects THEIR game? Is this, or will this, lead to disruptions on the field?

Does Whitnall's constant leadership onfield (he always seems to yelling instructions to players) piss players off and make them want to do the opposite to what he says?

Whether or not you like it Whitnall is the best option for captain at present

Sounds like everyone is awaiting for Whitnall to fail so everyone jumps on him.

Same old story buddy - if he fails everyone will be piping in with 'I told you so', whereas if he succeeds *and how do you measure success as a captain?* - people will be falling over each other on here saying that they knew he could make it, and always had faith in him...

I love the faith some people have in their players, but again - same old story.

Oh and PJ - you said 'Stevens didn't have the best of seasons, but who did?'

...Fev.

That would have been my pick for captain - Fev, Stevens Vice Captain...

It's not anger or dislike, it's respect. How many games did we win while he was acting captain last year?

Not sure it is entirely over the line yet.

But if he does get it ... it's a bit like the Ackland signing _ all a bit underwhelming, really. But predictably so.

Quick, Murph, just get a few more games under 'ya belt.

Mrs terg likes Big Red .. might be more reason for her to start watching more often (and hopefully I can give the knitting back)

Will we be able to hide our captain on the bench when his man (playing forward or back) starts to run off him at will?

I heard from a very important person that the club decided the captaincy on a toss off.

We all know that winning the coin toss at the start of each game is the most vital role a captain has on the field, and my informant tells me that all the boys were paired up and a coin toss, with the loser eliminated.

Apparently it came down to Whitnal and Stevens and Whits called tails in the air and sure enough it came up tails.

Stevens took the loss well and wished Lance that his luck continued through the home and away season.

Lance was extremely glad to, saying that this is a great honour and mentioning something about getting out of 2.5 minutes warm up each match.

Well done Lance. You deserve to be captain.

With his solid punting background, Lance would have been a shoe in.

No ones sure of anything Kenny.

1. Bradley and Ratten back to bring coaching into the new century.
2. 8 premium picks in the draft.
3. Setanta, Bower win critcal positions in the backline; plugged gaping holes.
4.Pagan changing with the times; loses total control of thel list.
Pratt is back.
5. New sponsors on board.
6. membership ahead of target.
7. Murphy is back on the field.
8. Gibbs

....and we're ripping this club apart on hearsay.

Have to say I'm a victum of it.

Nobody knows.

I just wish Fev hadn't been caught / misbehaved in Ireland. All would have been much easier.

Give it to Kouta...and I wasn't a Kouta for captain fan last year. This club and its habitual pattern for messsing just can't stop being messy till Murph is old/ experienced/ mature enough. Murph better have a big one this year.

At least there's hope for a clear path soon.

Pratt aint going to like it if this gets messy; it'll be a real let down.

Stuff the toss, it's Kernahan's call  . He's closer to the playing group than anyone else.

It will be announced sooner or later. Sooner is better!

As Captain, Lance will play an important role at an important transitional time in the rebuilding of Carlton.

Um didnt Denis say recently we wouldn't be naming a captain until after the NAB cup?

Are we sure this isn't just Captain for the game against the Bombers?

You know I have heard the complete opposite. I know of players at Carlton who are very jealous of Whitnalls football brain and really do look up to him. I have not heard one player want him removed as captain. And I am being honest.

I had a dicussion on this topic with a player the other day and your comments shock me.

That's what I prefer to hear.

Sometimes I let supporters' opinions get to me....and they get me down.

Thanks DIAMOTISM, you've picked up my faith in our charter for unity on our road to success in a brave new world.

It's a numbers game.

It's our turn, our number that's up..just like our ladder position.

Do you think anyone else in the history of the world has had their brain spoken about so frequently? One of these years Lance is going to have a massive preseason and come out bending spoons.
