I didn't say he was sacked...very different to being pushed. I know of many people who have been told that it 'might be in their best interests to find alternative employment' and they have a certain time period to do that. I think Grant did a fair job in extremely difficult circumstances, and under no circumstances do i think it had anything to do with the Presidents appointment.

There is a very bad rumour going around that Grant ‘Cornflakes’ Thomas will take over this role. Please just let that be a bad rumour

He was actually pretty impressive the way he handled his departure from St Kilda.

I'd be willing to give him a chance.

I thought he said on leaving St K that he couldn't see himself ever getting involved at another AFL club...

Grant Williams was actually made an offer far to good to refuse by a large company asking him to return to being an Engineer. A huge part of his previous Work life prior to joining the AFL and then later CFC, involved designing off-shore oil rigs in Australia and around the world.

With a young family the new offer was simply to good to pass up.

So endeth the speculation and innuendo.

Regards Cazzesman

Yep.

He's a very good football manager with the way he handled most of their contracts and kept that list together. But I don't know how he'd react to Carlton having a couple of young ruckman on the list. 8)

Remember that Grant Thomas kept a very VERY good relationship with his players - and in particular the younger players. Although his coaching skills might not exactly be up to scratch his people skills aren't too bad at all...

...GT doesn't - but this in particular reminds me of Stan Alves, one of the best public speakers I've met... not to mention a nice guy. Again, couldn't coach a footy team though. :)

I think he played a huge part in convincing Gehrig, Penny, Voss, and Gram to join St Kilda.

And Dal Santo for Hall. 8)

We don't need that sort of person at Carlton. :P

He'll put in place a process to follow going forward, and with the correct KPI's and world's best practice, create a positive outcome for all concerned stakeholders.

Is anyone in a position to shed any light on the process being followed in recruiting a replacement? Has the position been advertised, are interviews underway? Who has ownership of the process? Is it Malouf, is Williams himself involved, or is it in the hands of a subset of the board and/or football departments...? One would think we'd want to move on this as soon as possible.

I for one would be very keen to hear of any interest (or lack thereof) from Grant Thomas. Would be ideally suited, in my opinion.
