Dr SHERRIN,

I would have no problem telling Jack to his face what I think of many of the things he did while President and supposed leader and figurehead of our Club.

I would start with his attitude to women, who make up a little over 50% of the population.

I find it interesting how many otherwise intelligent people appear to throw it all out the window when it comes to assessment of Elliot.

I am not one who holds long term grudges, but there were 2 sides to Elliot and I find it disappointing that so many coterie members (and I will include Pratt here) have appeared to absolve him from any responsibility for what happened, and turned their backs on the Club for 5 years.

And I also find it extremely disappointing that many of those, who would demand so much from players and football department, have not demanded the same kind of professional approach from Elliot ... starting with full acceptance and admission of his own personal responsibility and failures (and also from his fellow board members) .

And SurreyBlue, please spare me, a lecherous drunkard is not what I would consider to be the heart and soul of this Club.

I agree that all supporters need to come together and support this Club. But some of us have been here and throwing in our hard earned money over the last 5 years as well, and trying to help in the ways we can, rather than playing the blameless aggrieved know it all media buffoon, or aggrieved friend of same.

Perspective is an interesting thing.

Goodsign.

I'm pretty happy to Jack to have an involvement he is true blue as they come, but our new President & CEO have to take a VERY different path.

I would also love to see Smorgan and Collins back as well.

Lets forgive and move on....

Welcome all ex Blues back to the club and launch an almighty assault for the next couple of years.

We may never have another opportunity like this to galvanise this football club.

I dont want him back at the club in any area.....footy has moved on with the way its played on and off the field and Elliott is a neanderthal who needs to relive the old times in the outer and not involve himself in the club at all..
Tuned into SEN today and there he was again....the media luv him because he cant keep his gob shut and loves to be quoted.
I bet I hear more from Elliott than Pratt during 2007....

Agree with Headplants views on Elliott.....we want Carlton to be a family club with everyone welcome and catered for, more like Essendon* and Collingwood...I just dont see how Elliott representing Carlton even in a unofficial role reflects that...

As long as JE keeps his trap shut, bring some financial support in and has nothing to do with what goes out, then I have no problem with him being back at the club ...but I will never forget!

Some women also smoke like furnaces drink like fish and have a colorful command of the English language. I don't consider that to be a disparaging attitude towards men.

Some even apparently take running lunges at fit footballers on a Sunday night at 5am.

Implying JE is disrespectful towards women in general without a substantial basis to do so is just being opportunistic and melodramatic.

Has nothing to do with gender

The ironies are delicious.

I know for a fact that "The Spew" and the rest of the AFL Commission is spewing about the involvement of John Elliott back at the Carlton Football Club.

Under normal circumstances this would be of great concern because I know how much of a vindictive C#%T Demetrispew can be.

However now we have Richard Pratt on Board as Carlton President, the arrogant Demetrispew is looking towards his corporate aspirations in the Boardrooms of Australia in the future.

This is where the power of Richard Pratt will prove invaluable to Carlton in the next few years.

The AFL and in particular Demetrispew will be arse licking from here to kingdom come as his ambitions to enter the Boardrooms of Australia post his AFL career - and he knows a whisper or two from Richard Pratt may be the difference to him gaining a position on a board.

We are not talking about an Executive Chairmanship of a grubby landfill and waste management company are we Andrew?

Don't worry I am sure "The Spew" doesnt have the guts to start aiming his vindictive crap on Carlton in the future - as long as Richard Pratt is involved.

The majority of women dont fit that description and we need to appeal to the majority....maybe the ladies who frequent this forum would like to comment on Jacks persona and appeal.....

Your statement was generalized and implied a disrespect to the female gender in a sweeping context on whole.

As for the waitress incident. its really about intent isn't it.

It was an incident that should not have happened it was stupid yes, but I don't think his actions had anything to do with sexual insinuation or gratification, he most likely would have done the same thing had the person standing in front of him at the time been a male.

Whilst the incident should not have occurred I don't his intentions were gender based and certainly doesn't prove he has a disrespect for women in general as is being implied.

Denim then you obviously never saw Elliott at any of the best and fairest functions...to say that he is a sexist sleazebag is probably an understatement..

Didn't say he wasn't a grunting warthog nor did I say his actions at times weren't stupid. I said that referring to him as being disrespectful to women adhoc in a generalized statement was being melodramatic and opportunistic.

cool.

He is generally disrespectful to women.

Infact...I will go one step further.

He is generally disrespectful to nearly everyone...Including the members of the Carlton football club.

Although it is more a: I am going to rort the salary cap, take the AFL to the supreme court...lose...and make the members and supporters of the Carlton football club pay kind of way.

I too have mixed feelings about Jack coming back. While I believe everyone deserves a second chance, the way he ran things towards the end of his presidency of CFC, as well as his other companies, scares the $hit out of me. But yes, as long as RP can ensure JE keeps his trap shut most times, and RP or someone trustworthy oversees the dollars that come in as a result of JE's coterie connections - I'm all for it.
And FWIW, Jack lost the respect of me & 2 of my mates at Sticks' testimonial dinner years ago. We approached him for a photo & autograph & he just waved us off & said 'NO'. Then for the next 20 minutes, we see him all over women in the audience, happily posing for photos with his arms all around them & signing autographs for them. So we approached him again & politely requested the same. 'NO' & then he pushed the security guard with him between us...and proceeded to try to grovel all over women again.
Just my 2 cents worth.
